It is with great sadness that the family of CATHLEEN ANN (SANDERS) SUNDERLAND announce her passing on January 30th, 2020 in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 62. Cathy will be lovingly remembered and is survived by her husband Chris Sunderland, and children; Nathan and his spouse Amy Sunderland, Rachael Sunderland (deceased), Andrew Sunderland, Becca and her spouse Stephen Miehe, and five grandchildren; Michael, Xander, Jacob, William, and Adeline. As well she’ll be missed by her father, Elmer Sanders, and her siblings, Keith, Bruce, Doug, Bonnie, Glenn, and Ron.
Cathy was born on September 10th, 1957 and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated as valedictorian in her registered nursing program as a young adult. She then studied midwifery in Plymouth, England. She had a long career as a nurse working in England, Canada, and the United States. She eventually finished her Bachelor of Nursing and graduated with distinction in 2005.
She was a talented calligrapher and seamstress, she made her own wedding dress and many others. She loved gardening, harvesting and canning vegetables. One of her great passions was genealogy and family history. She also loved travelling the world with her husband and family.
She was well known for her intelligence, direct approach, and practicality. Many sought her opinion. She never wavered from her faith and her testimony was a strength to those around her. She will be greatly missed.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Center (338-5 Ave E), in Cardston, AB on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.
Friends may meet the family at Legacy Funeral Home on Friday, February 7 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. or at the church from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the Service. Interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery. Condolences may be sent by CLICKING HERE.
