ZELLAH CATHERINE (BYAM) TOTH, beloved wife of the late John Toth, passed away in Cardston, Alberta on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at the age of 84 years.
She is survived by her children, Patricia (Donald) Barton, Joanne (Stan) Shanks, Warren (Laureen) Toth, Colleen (Peter) Drew, Karen (Craig) Lefler; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She is predeceased by her parents, siblings, daughter Anita Kathleen Toth, granddaughter Melisa Barton Christensen and great granddaughter Madison Gorham.
Zellah was born September 11th, 1934 in Cold Lake, Alberta to Kenneth and Viola (Burgess) Byam. She later moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where she met John Toth. They were married September 18th, 1951. In addition to raising her family, Zellah worked for many years as a medical assistant in Lethbridge. Her kindness, warmth and sweet smile endeared her to many.
Zellah loved attending the temple, family history work, quilting, baking, canning and gardening. Above all, the most important things in her life were her family and her faith. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in a variety of capacities in the church. She served alongside John as a missionary in the Toth family homeland of Hungary. They later returned to the mission field in Hungary when John was called as the mission president there from 1994 - 1996.
She spent her life in the service of others, especially her family. She was very involved in the lives of her family members and did whatever she could to serve them. She will be dearly missed.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, TEMPLE STREET CHAPEL, on Thursday, October 11th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may meet the family from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m prior to the service. Condolences may be sent by CLICKING HERE.
