It is with great sadness that we announce the passing our son DAVID MARK WALSH.
David was born April 8th 1997 to Stephen and Denise Walsh in Mutare, Zimbabwe. He passed away Monday 14th February 2022 in Cardston Alberta, Canada, as a result of complications from pneumonia after recovering from the Covid 19 virus.
David was born 11 weeks premature and was fighting multiple diseases from before he was born his main affliction was Infant Refsums Disease a very rare genetic metabolic condition that resulted in him being deaf, mute, and blind. David is the longest recorded survivor of this debilitating disease, a tribute to his fighting spirit and excellent care. This disease also resulted in brain and nervous system degeneration over time and put a strain on his heart as well as caused severe muscular dystrophy and brittle bones.
David was in almost constant pain his entire life but bared it well and was often heard laughing at a private joke with his guardian angles or chuckling cheerfully at any attention he received. David was a handsome boy with long dark eyelashes and a beautiful cowlick in his thick brown hair. His blue eyes would sparkle at the touch of people he would recognize, and he had the most elegant long fingers and soft skin. He brought great joy to our family and all who knew him well and taught us important lessons of self-sacrifice, the joy of service, endurance, perseverance, having a positive attitude, love, hope and long suffering. He had a truly celestial spirit and is no doubt one of the Lord's elect.
David is survived by his parents Stephen Richard Walsh and Denise Joy Walsh and siblings, Pamela Joy Spence, Callan John Walsh, Brendan Richard Walsh and Daniel Joseph Walsh.
A memorial service will be held in his honor Saturday 19th February in the Relief Society Room of the Cardston West Stake Center at 11am. Light refreshments will be served after. All are welcome.
