FLORENCE WEBER passed away peacefully on June 25th, 2016 in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 95 years.
Florence (known to her family as Nan) was a well loved and wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who is survived by 7 children; Elaine Raymond, Carolyne Whitney, Marian Allen, Doug Salmon, Dianne Amundsen, Robert Salmon, Christine Stevens and their spouses, in addition to 32 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren.
Florence was predeceased by her husband Dewaine Weber; parents, James and Annie Buchan; eldest son, David Salmon; siblings, Harold Buchan, Vera Foster, Jean Scott and Lois Morrow; grandchildren, Bret Ball and Tim Gehmlich.
Florence was born August 2nd, 1920 in Almonte, Ontario. She met and married Reginald Salmon, the father of her 8 children who were all born in Almonte. In 1962 Florence moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she spent much of her life except for short stays in Vernon, B.C.; Wetaskiwin, Alberta; eventually settling in Cardston, Alberta in 2003, a location right across the street from the Cardston Temple which Florence had always hoped for.
Her passions and hobbies were many and varied. She loved photography, preferring to shoot nature and flowers which she did with an artistic eye. She had a penchant for poetry, writing over 100 poems during the course of her lifetime which she often sent to those lucky enough to receive them as gifts. She loved to pursue family history and did so for many years, learning how to use a computer in her 80's to help facilitate the process. She also loved to cook, sew, quilt, garden, read, music and generally learning new things. But the most important things to her were always family and the church. Her many church callings included being a teacher in various capacities including mini-classes in homemaking, various secretarial positions, Family History Centre positions (worker, consultant and teacher), a dedicated Visiting Teacher, and often supplied flowers and sacrament bread on Sundays.
We would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Society Lee Crest Nursing Home for attending to Florence's needs during her time spent in their care, especially for making Florence as comfortable and pain free as possible throughout her last days with us.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Temple Street Chapel, 355-3rd Street West, Cardston, AB, Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Friends may meet the family at the Church from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the Service. Interment will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to www.legacyfuneralhome.ca
