James Martin Webster, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 3, 2023. He was born on May 15, 1935 in Cold Lake, Alberta, the son of Norman Leavitt Webster and Idell Mae Wood. He passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Magrath, Alberta.
Jim was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived his life in accordance with his strong faith and principles. He was stalwart and steadfast in his desire to follow the Savior, and lived a life of quiet service.
In 1962, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Anne Rausch, in the Cardston Temple, where their love and commitment was sealed for time and all eternity. They enjoyed 61 years of companionship, raising a beautiful family together, helping their friends and community, and serving side by side in church callings - always holding hands.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte, and their 7 children: Shonna (Jim) Steed, Mark (Adele) Webster, Larry (Nicole) Webster, Steven (Paula) Webster, Dan (Andrea) Webster, Sherron (Steve) Brinton and Sharlee (Brett) Steed, as well as 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply. He is also survived by his Sister, Linda Webster Jordan and Brother, Robert Webster. He is predeceased by his Parents, his Brother Lamont Webster, and his Grandson Tyler James Webster.
Jim had an unwavering testimony of the restored gospel and served faithfully in many callings within the Church. He treasured his opportunities to serve a mission, first to South Africa as a young man, and again later in life, with his wife Charlotte, in the Family and Church History mission in Salt Lake City.
Jim earned two Bachelors degrees, and a Masters degree. He had a love of learning and tried to instill that in his children. He taught Seminary and Institute for many years as his profession. He enjoyed reading immensely, and it was rare to see him without a book in his hands. He loved spending time with his family- especially being surrounded by his grandchildren. He always had a warm smile, a dry sense of humor and a sparkle in his eye.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Garden Place Chapel. 170 N Centre St in Magrath, Alberta. A meet the family will take place from 7:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, November 9. He will be laid to rest at the Magrath Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Special thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Garden Vista Care Center in Magrath for their tender, loving care over the last 7 months, and especially during his final days.
Jim will be greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him. As we say goodbye for now, we take comfort in the knowledge that we will be reunited with him again in the eternities.
"His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." (Matthew 25:21)
