It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear son and brother Melvin Zackary Whitemanleft on July 12, 2023 in Stand Off, Alberta.
He preferred to be called Zack or Zackary which everyone knew him by. Zackary was blessed to have two families who loved him very much. Zackary was born to Melvin Lewis Whitemanleft and the late Dianne Rose Medicine Traveller. Zack had the love of his brothers Andy, Darnell and Koda and sisters Shawna, Jazzmine, Tressa, Candace and the late Maryanne and Vanessa. Zack also had the love of his uncle Rick and aunt Jeraldine. Zackary came to us at a very young age and raised him up until his passing. His cousins Randy, John, Misty and the late Timothy took him in as their brother and we took him as our son (Baby Z). Our family fell in love with him instantly and there wasn’t anything that would change that.
Zackary lived Cardston, Lethbridge, Calgary and Stand Off, Alberta. Zackary attended school at Saipoyi and tatsikiisaapo’p middle school here in Stand Off. Zackary joined the basketball and running club they had at the middle school. Zackary loved to go fishing, swimming and hiking and just being outdoors. Zackary had the privilege of of travelling to Disneyland with his older brother Darnell. He talked about this trip with great excitement. Zackary had a kind and caring nature about him only a few people knew. If he did something wrong he would always apologize. When Zackary would walk away from home he would always say “I love you”.
Zack is predeceased by his mom Dianne Medicine Traveller, his grandfathers Francis Vielle and Alphonse Whitemanleft, his grandmothers Helen Vielle and Teresa Whitemanleft, brother Tim Whitemanleft, sisters Maryanne and Vanessa.
A Wake Service will be held at the Tanner Center, Cardston (260 1 St W), on Tuesday, July 25 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Tanner Center on Wednesday, July 26 at 11:00 am. Interment in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Stand Off.
