DELOY ORLIN WIGHT beloved husband and best friend of Dorothy Mae (Loose) Wight passed away peacefully on October 22, 2020 at the age of 90. Deloy and Dorothy raised 6 wonderful children; Sheila (Garry) Ratzlaff, LeeAnn (Roger) Call, Corey (Merrill) Wight, Lonnie (Kevin) Konefall, Julie (Lyle) Roberts, and Donna (Darren) Young. They also have 23 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Deloy is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Esther Wight; his brother Lovell and sisters Erma Pinkerton, Verda Wynder, Nona Gibb, and Loraine Eakett; his wife Dorothy; his oldest daughter Sheila Ratzlaff; and his oldest grandson Christopher Call as well as many other family members and friends who have been anxiously awaiting his arrival.
Deloy graduated from the University of Utah with a teaching degree and began his teaching career at the Glenwood High school in the fall of 1958. He went on to teach at LCI in Lethbridge for three years and then accepted a teaching position at Kate Andrews High School in Coaldale in the fall of 1967. He taught Physics and Math. His classroom was always open to students over the lunch hour to come and get extra help. As long as the students were respectful and quiet, they were able to stay there, eat their lunch and do their homework. He was a very respected and loved teacher at Kate Andrews. Deloy retired from teaching in 1987. Deloy and Dorothy moved to their Mountain View home permanently in 1994.
Deloy married his sweetheart and best friend Dorothy Loose for time and eternity in the Cardston Temple on October 19, 1949. Deloy and Dorothy were truly companions in everything. Their love story and life together has been an inspiration to many, especially to his children and grandchildren. Deloy took such good care of Dorothy throughout their life together. They were a good team, working together to make each other happy. In 2014 Dorothy spent many weeks in the hospital and all she wanted was to go back to her home in Mountain View. So Deloy took her home and lovingly cared for her until her death in February 2015. We are so comforted and grateful to know that he is now together with her again.
Deloy was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He served in many Church callings and loved to serve in whatever capacity he was needed. He along with his wife Dorothy served a mission for the Church in Tonga and fell in love with the Tongan people. He had many fond memories of their time there.
A Private Family Funeral Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
