SHAYLIZE TALINA WILLIAMS-DAY RIDER, passed away on October 28th, 2021 on the Blood Reserve, AB at the age of 19 years. Shaylize was the beloved daughter to Cheyanna Williams and the late Vernon Day Rider. She was also raised by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather Johnny Day Rider. Shaylize was born in Lethbridge but grew up on the Blood Indian Reserve both in the Old Agency and Farm Four areas. In which she spent her younger years with her mother and grandmother in Old Agency but then moved to Farm Four with her Grandfather Johnny Day Rider. Shaylize lived a very active life going to school, volunteering and participating in Barrel racing and rodeos. She loved horses and loved horse racing. She loved her own horses and grew up with one particularly, Buster, whom she loved dearly and her dog Backeye they were her friends not just her animals. She spent a lot of time with them and amongst her horses. Shaylize also had a lot of talent and hobbies riding horses was just one of the few; she also loved sundancing in which she started going to sweats before she was even born as Cheyanna would go while pregnant with Shaylize’s great grandmother Rosie Day Rider and even while she was a baby Rosie would bring Shaylize in there as she loved it as a new born baby. She’d even participate by drumming, playing the rattle and singing along with her grandmother. Then as she got older she started to sundance and went to powwows to dance, she was a traditional dancer. She even spoke in our native Blackfoot language. And sometimes she was asked at some of the schools to pray in Blackfoot, which she also enjoyed. Shaylize was also active in helping out at the rodeos and helped host and sponsor other children who came from less fortunate families at Bullaramas. She’d sell raffles and ride or cook to gather the money needed to help the less fortunate ones to places they couldn’t afford like Disneyland etc. Shaylize was a very beautiful, generous, loving, kind, caring, and humble young lady. She had a heart of gold, and lit up the room with her smile! She was a giver not a taker, she liked to take care of her loved ones. She was just the person you’d like to be around because she was heart warming and caring. Shaylize is survived by her siblings; Arian Williams, Shay Williams, and Kylan Williams; her uncles, Lyle Williams and Chad Williams, Nesar Hamad, James Williams, Shelbi Sheepskin, E.J. Williams, Simeon Williams, Lionel Williams and Calvin Williams; her aunties, Tanya Giroux, Anita Williams, Karen Williams, and Norma Williams, Francis Williams, Linda Williams, Hilda Williams; cousins, Lexia Giroux,Tyson Giroux, Kayden Giroux, Isaiah Giroux, Shauntaya Sheepskin, Kali Sheepskin, Nickal, Giroux, and Alexis Williams, Victor Williams, Megan Eagle Child.
