She grew up in the community of Moses Lake. She was raised by grandma Suzette Eagle Ribs as her mother worked at the Blood Indian Hospital. She would always speak of how Grandma Suzette was so strong to carry both her and Sister Hope on her back wrapped in a blanket from Moses Lake to Cardston. At a young age she became a fancy dancer, to support her father’s Pow Wow life. She also had her first communion at the Moses Lake Community Catholic Church, where she took her catechism classes. Upon her passing, she was given her last rites by Father Kevin Tumback of the Assumption Church. Her passion in life was being a mother and a supporter to her children’s upbringing. She would make fry bread for the Tacos to one of the many fundraisers for a tournament or the Calgary Men’s Fastball League. Donna confessed she loved travelling the many tournaments the team would enter as it brought the family together.
Donna also worked with her husband at the local Moccasin Flats Mini Market in Moses Lake as Security, this was their second home. After the passing of late husband Homer, who she truly loved and was committed too, lost apart of herself. As tough as this was to carry on in life without him she tried for the children and family. Majority of her life was in Lethbridge, Alberta renting where she can for the family. Upon her passing she lived with Natasha and Sheldon on the south side of Lethbridge. Donna loved her family as well and did the best she can for each of them. She would often help out with families/homeless and in need by opening her door to many, and made many loyal friends in Lethbridge. Even the local pharmacist Andy, who took Donna as a daughter, made sure she had her meds on the daily and would deliver with an orange juice as she would have that effect on people. Donna often checked on all her sisters to see how they were doing as the pandemic was uncertain for many. She had a heart of gold and will be missed by many and never forgotten.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Reggie Black Plume and Bella Wolf Child and adopted mother and great grandmother Suzette Eagle Ribs by her paternal grandparents, Frank Black Plume “Soyisttsiiksiina” and Lizzie Standing Alone “Sipiainihkiaakii” (Joe Across the Mountain); her maternal grandparents; Lucy Spotted Bull and Sam (Elizabeth) Wolf Child.
