Maternal aunts and uncles: Geraldine (Richard) Wells, Josephine Vielle, Gilbert (Shirley) Wolf Child, Stella Wolf Child, Joyce Many Fingers, Theresa (Alfie) Red Crow. Nieces and nephews: Deanna (Randall) Eagle Tailfeathers, Lawrence Wolf Child, Celine (Myles) McDougall-Rabbit, Robert Junior Rabbit, Micheal Black Plume. In Laws: Gwen (Spikey) Shouting, Colleen (Barry) Beebe, Tootsie (Christine) Heavy Runner. Numerous nieces and nephews on her husband’s side, cousins, friends and Blood Tribe Continuing Care Nurses and Staff who had provided care for Rena.
Rena attended Cardston Elementary School, St.Mary’s High School and then attend Red Crow College in the Life Skills program. She spent most of her life in Moses Lake and became a friend/sister to many in the community. Rena was very protective of her sisters when her parents were lost in the life of alcohol and she would have to take her sisters to her Grandma Suzette Eagle Ribs. She often reminded the sisters of her stressful times getting them ready to run to safety. When her parents seen the light, became sober and turned their lives to prayer and church. She was allowed to have fun with her sisters as well. One memorable Sunday before church, Donna and Hope were getting ready and Rena tied their white tights together in a knot. Her Dad was not pleased with her because the family was late for church. She often showed love to her younger siblings of being creative and making a toy out of a Pringles can or whatever she can get her hands on. Rena loved to eat food as well and she ate 13 boiled eggs greedily and choked. She would often tell her younger siblings to run to the House of Quons restaurant in Cardston for her favorite “Chicken Chow Mein”. Rena was very in touch with Creator and she read the bible and would often be seen with it, she was also a devout Catholic, attending church often with her husband.
Due to her mental health that affected her throughout her life, it didn’t stop her from getting what she wanted and needed. She raised her children to the best of her abilities until her mental health declined and interfered with most of her decision making. Her children were taken into group care and into extended families. Thank you to the facilities who assisted with raising her children and family members, late Fred Spotted Bull and his beautiful wife Julia, for raising Billie (one of her twin boys). In the 80’s she met the love of her life, Roland and they spent the next 40 years together. Her love for Roland was like no other and the care she gave him was unique, he was her number one (soulmate). She was very persistent and would keep her house clean and often be seen cooking. She would always spend time visiting people in town or wherever her path lead her in life. If her family needed groceries, she would be on the highway hiking into Standoff to the foodbank. When she lost her son, Kesley her life was never the same and refused to have surgery for a tumor that grew and she left to be with her children, and our loving ancestors. Through all this, she hid her pain and suffered in silence, always looking at life in a positive perspective. She will never be forgotten for the sacrifices she made for many and had shown kindness.
Rena was predeceased by her parents, Reggie Black Plume and Bella Wolf Child and adopted mother and great grandmother Suzette Eagle Ribs by her paternal grandparents, Frank Black Plume “Soyisttsiiksiina” and Lizzie Standing Alone “Sipiainihkiaakii” (Joe Across the Mountain); her maternal grandparents; Lucy Spotted Bull and Sam (Elizabeth) Wolf Child. Her children; Kesley and Lesley Ann Wolf Child, adopted brother; Darcy Black Plume, nephews and nieces; Myron Wolf Child, Daynin Healy, Tama White Man, Richard Jr. Black Plume and Leona White Man.
