With heavy hearts the family are very sad to announce the sudden death of Vivian Left Hand/Across The Mountain, found on July 5, 2021 on the Blood Reserve in the community of Levern.
Vivian was born on June 7, 1970 at the Cardston Municipal Hospital. Her father was the Late Percy Big Sorrel Horse and her mother was the late Lily Across The Mountain. Vivian and her late brother Bobby were raised by their Auntie the late Mary Stella Across The Mountain, whom they called their mother. Mary Stella took the responsibility of raising the two of them at the ages of 4 & 2. She also had a large family so Vivian grew up surrounded by many of her relatives whom she called her siblings.
Vivian was very athletic as a young girl, also known to be some what of a tomboy and loved to play pranks on her siblings and relatives. She also loved to sing and play airband so her older brother Patrick Bear Shin Bone made wooden guitars for her and her siblings which she played with a passion. Vivian also enjoyed her traditional ways. She liked to fancy dance which brought her to many places following the Pow Wow trail from B.C., Alberta, the USA and into New Mexico, travelling with her mother Mary Stella, along with her siblings and other family members. She also enjoyed riding horses.
Vivian attended the Cardston Elementary and Jr. High and it was in Jr. High she entered and won the competition for Indian Princess at the age of 15 years. She continued on into High School and graduated from LCI.
Vivian met Jimmy Crow Shoe from Peigan and Blood, with whom she had 3 children. Her oldest is daughter Jasmine, son Wyatt and baby son Colton. While they were together, she continued her education at the Red Crow College where she received her early Childhood Degree. After receiving her degree, she was hired to work as manager/supervisor for the St. Mary’s Daycare. Unfortunately, Vivian and Jimmy went their separate ways but continued to remain friends and supported each other with their children. Vivian later met Clark Left Hand from the Eden Valley Reserve and got married eventually. She made her home with Clark and his family on the Eden Valley Reserve where she remained till her death. Vivian also worked for Clark’s reserve as a social worker, a custodian and also helped and volunteered when she was needed. She met and made many friends through out the twenty one years she was living there. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her laughter and silliness will never be forgotten.
