NEDRA GAY BEAZER, , beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 87.
Born on February 28, 1937, to Reed and Nora Olsen of Leavitt, and grew up with four brothers and one sister. She was predeceased by Verlin (Gwen) Olsen, Ben Olsen, and Loye (Anna Louise) Olsen. She considered her husbands family as her own, Norma (Bill) Wellman, Afton (Leo) Toone, Glenna (George) Fairbanks, Grant Beazer, and Doug Fellows. She leaves to mourn her brother Dee (Diane) Olsen, one sister Pat (Ken) Vadnais, her sisters-in-law, Georgean Olsen, MaryLynn Beazer, and Geneva Fellows.
She was married to her eternal, loving husband, Morgan A. Beazer, who preceded her in death in 2021. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love and devotion. Together they raised seven children: Cheryl (David) Smith, Jim Beazer, Lee (Sandy) Beazer, Shauna Beazer, Allen (Lori) Beazer, Kaylene (Curtis) Lawlor, and Brian (Kim) Beazer. Her life was a constant source of love, strength, and inspiration to her family.
Nedra’s legacy continues through her 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all who cherished her deeply.
Nedra lived as a shining example of faith and devotion, patterning her life after the Savior as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her four sons had her as Cub/ Scout leader and softball coach. She always accepted her church callings. One of the highlights of church service was the mission she and Morgan served in the Canada Halifax Mission (2000-2001).
She found joy in serving others. This was why she loved the Cardston Ladies Auxiliary. As one of the fund-raising activities, she (and Betty Spencer) started to make pies out of her kitchen. They made over 500 beef and chicken pies from scratch, delivered them ready to be eaten or frozen for another day. This project grew every year and turned into a twice a year event. When her children needed to fund raise for an event, they gathered in the kitchen to make Spudnuts and took them around the neighbourhood to sell.
She learned to quilt and crochet from her mother, and just like her mother, she made sure every child, grandchild and great grandchild had a new quilt at birth , marriage, and any other time one was needed. Her love is felt every time they curl up in her blankets.
Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and the strength of her beliefs, living her faith everyday by delivering a meal or making a phone call. In her last few days, she was still noticing those around her, and had us bring a baby blanket she had just finished crocheting to a pregnant nurse. When her ministering partner stopped by, she talked about how she would be able to complete her ministering with a phone call.
She loved the outdoors, golfing, hiking many trails in her younger days, playing in and at the creek with grandchildren, picnics with family and friends in Waterton. She loved music – singing and playing the piano. She was the Relief Society pianist at her passing.
Her extended family was just as important to her as her immediate family gathering together to celebrate the milestones and holidays or just to give a hug in passing by.
Mom was forever grateful to her friends who were willing to spend Wednesdays at her home playing cards to socialize and pass the time.
Her warmth, kindness, and delicious food will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family has appreciated all the kindness, compassion, and care shown to her this past week.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Leavitt, AB on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 am. Friends may meet the family from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Beazer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cardston Ladies Auxiliary in her memory.
Link to watch service will be available after the service.
