We the family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle, nephew,cousin and friend. Wesley Miles Joseph Brown Weasel (Big Sorrel Horse) was born on September 24, 1979 in Cardston, Alberta. He was called home by our Creator on October 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Wesley attended Stand Off elementary School and went on to St. Mary’s High School. Wesley also played on a baseball team called “Franky’s Knock-outs” where he won numerous trophies and metals with his coach Frankie Medicine Crane. He also worked carpentry with his Dad and brothers fixing houses all over the Blood Reserve. Wesley worked at the Brood Tribe Forge Plant. Wesley enjoyed playing card games with his family. He also loved spending times with his nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters. Wesley lived with his sister Teresa and her family also Rocky the family dog who would follow him everywhere he went. Wesley is survived by his children Rasheda Joan Brown Weasel, Wesley Miles Joseph Brown Weasel, Joseph Miles Wesley Brown Weasel and Ariya Jane Brown Weasel. Wesley was a very proud father of his children’s accomplishments, he thought the world of them, Wesley loved and cherished his children. Special God daughter Shania Stephanie Jade Small Eyes (Brown Weasel). Wesley loved his siblings unconditionally. Surviving sisters Francine Big Snake from Siksika and Teresa (Eric) Brown Weasel, Larissa Big Snake from Siksika, surviving brothers Harley (Verna) Youngman from Siksika, Stewart Bear Shield, Jason Brown Weasel, Eric Small Eyes, Sydney Plaited Hair. His special loving auntie Rosemarie Poor Eagle, aunties Charlene (Radford) Brewer, Shirley Black Plume, Freida Melting Tallow, Philomena (Rusty) Schindler from Kainai, Carlene Poor Eagle, Lynn Poor Eagle, Alphina Yellowfly, Berni Big Snake, Vivian Sun Shoe all from Siksika. His uncles Floyd Melting Tallow from Kainai and Robin Big Snake from Siksika. His loving nieces Krystal, Angel (Jon), Lisa May, Jessie (Sherwyn), Star (Shane), Amber, Lorie, melissa, Shania, Tyra Sage, Kimberly (Tray), Keyana, Chrissy, Haley who he loved like sisters. His loving nephews Bradley (Nicole), Riley, Thunder, Augastina, Quentin, Vinnie, Eric, Gregory III (Boss), Tayshawn Rodney, Baby Jay, Kendrick, Jayzlan, Jason Jr.. Wesley had 18 great nieces and 15 great nephews and 2 great great nephews and one great great niece and one on the way.
Wesley was predeceased by his grandparents Josephine Brown Weasel, Bob Big Sorrel Horse of Kainai, Maggie Sun Shoe and Albert Big Snake from Siksika. His beloved parents Gregory & Joan Brown Weasel (Big Sorrel Horse), beloved sister Stephanie Plaited Hair (Big Snake). His beloved brothers Rodney Brown Weasel , Ira Brown Weasel, D.J. Oka. His beloved nephews Sonny Plaited hair, Baby Vincent Small Eyes, Kaiden Small Eyes. His beloved niece who he cherished, Charnelle Lee Jewels Brown Weasel (Small Eyes). His beloved Aunties Geraldine (Jim) black plume, Emelda (Vance) Brown Weasel, Josephine (Frank) Melting Tallow, Colleen Black Plume from Kainai. Margaret (Donald) Young Man, Auntie Teresa (Wallace) Bear Chief from Siksika, Jackie Poor Eagle. Beloved uncles Bernard (Mary Lillian) Big Snake, James Big Snake, Amos Poor Eagle from Siksika. Wesley had numerous relatives that passed away before him to numerous to mention.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre for making Wesley comfortable during his last days.
The Wake service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve and continue all night at house 214, Stand Off. The Funeral service will also be held at Senator Gladstone Hall on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm . Interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Stand Off.
