ELLEN OLIVIA FRENCH BINGHAM was born to Charles and Bessie French on October 9th, 1922 in Hillspring, Alberta. She passed away on February 23rd, 2019 in Cardston, Alberta from natural causes at the age of 96.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, David Raoul Bingham, her son, DeLynn Bingham, and two infant babies, Jared and Sally. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Rex, Ed, Cliff, Don, Keith, Russ and Wallace, and by two sisters, Melba Christensen and Bessie Johnson.
She is survived by a sister, Elaine (Clarke) Lybbert, and a daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Monroe. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren along with many, many, nieces and nephews.
Growing up, Ellen was very athletic—she won medals in track and loved playing sports, including basketball. She won many ribbons at the fair for both her produce and baking, and she loved sharing her apple crisp with friends and family until she could no longer peel an apple. Ellen was very good at detailed work and was a wonderful seamstress. She could make anything from nothing and was exceptional at watching every penny and being frugal. Her favorite thing in the whole world was riding carousels, enjoying the rides well into her 80’s. She also had a deep love for music—you could hear her humming all the time no matter what she was doing. She especially enjoyed listening to her sweet husband’s beautiful voice and piano playing.
Ellen’s feisty, persuasive, giving, genuine, long-winded and lovable nature will be missed.
