Japheth Bob Black Plume-Issapoi’pooka (Crow-Boy)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved son, dad, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, and friend. Japheth Bob Black Plume “Issapoi’Pooka” at the age of 30 in Edmonton, Alberta. Jay was born to his loving parents Cheryl Ivy Black Plume and the late James Paul Dust at the Cardston Hospital on June 9, 1994. Jay was raised with strong Christian morals, and believed in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with faith in our Heavenly Father. Jay is home and at peace in heaven.
Jay was raised on the Blood Reserve, Alberta. He attended Aahsaopi Elementary School, TMS, where he joined the cross-country team. He joined the cadets & played basketball with the Eagles throughout middle school and then at Kainai High School he played with the Warriors. Jay loved basketball; he would always be seen with a ball in his hand. He was also in a project during middle school called “Stories & Spaces – Exploring Kainai Plants and Culture”.
As the years went on, one point in his adult years, he went up north to work with his mom, Ivy, they both were housekeepers. The love Jay had for his mom was unconditional, he always played pranks and jokes on her. Jay was an outgoing person, he was kind, loving, and the sweetest soul. He was someone you could go too when you needed a laugh. Jay always had funny jokes and stories. As he’d share with you, all you would hear is laughter, his smile always lit up the room. He made sure everyone around him was laughing and having a good time.
Japheth was a proud father of his 2 beautiful children, his son Esrom & daughter Taleaya Black Plume. His kids were the epitome of his life. We are happy that Jay left us a piece of himself here on earth, as we see the many resemblances his children display.
Japheth is survived by his loving mother Cheryl Ivy Black Plume. Children: Esrom & Taleaya. Brothers: Josiah Black Plume, Seth & David Dust. Adopted Brothers: Robby Crying Head, Miciah Day Rider, George Day Rider, Thomas Jr (Albertine) Chief Moon & Max Thunder. Sister: Lilly Dust. Adopted Sister’s: Josie (Jaydon) Little Shields, Keysha (Cam) Little Shields, Rae (Tashina) Soldier, Sommer Chief Moon, & Alyssa (Jerry) Chief Moon, Jennica Black Plume, Timisha & Jenna Thunder. Auntie’s: Charlene Dust, Jessica Page (Armond), Joanne Storm (William) Smith, Shoby (Toby) Good Striker, Lucecilia-auntie mom (Tim) Thunder, Louise Black Plume, Patti Crying Head, Shauna Day Rider, Tessie & Vanessa Knife, Ellie (Jason) Weasel Head, Ann Marie Cat Face, Karen (Lloyd) McHugh, Aileen (Gary) Knife Cheryl & Arnold Shouting & Sally Plain Women. Jay had lots of cousins & numerous friends that he had shared a special bond with, and he took them ALL as his siblings.
Japheth is predeceased by his Father JP Dust. Paternal Grandparents: Victor Sr & Dorthea Dust. Great-Grandparents: Clive & Nellie Mountain Pocket Dust, and Charles & Bernice Jefferson. Aunties: Claudine Tonya Mountain Pocket Dust, Aldean Dust, Connie Red Star Price, Brenda Pretty Weasel (Max) Spotted Bear, Christine DeCrane, Ursula Russell, Kristina Garcia-Big Hair, Jacklyn Little Bird, Karen, Maxine, Fray Jefferson. Uncles: Clive Dust Jr. Great aunties: Marjorie, Sherry Jefferson, Charlene Nomee, LeeAnn Old Bull, Chery Yellowtail. Great uncles: Benny, Gavin Jefferson & Bernard Dust.

A wake service will be held at the Levern Community Hall, Blood Reserve, Alberta on Thursday, May 29, 2025 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm and then to Jacinta Bear’s residence all night. A funeral service will also be at Levern Community Hall on Friday, May 30 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Blood Reserve.
