Keenan (K-9) Black Plume-White Man
“Naato’siohpoiski” Sun Painted Face
November 6, 1997 – March 25, 2024
Passed away in Lethbridge, Alberta on March 25, 2024 at the age of 26 years old. He was survived by his grandmother Ramona Black Plume – White Man, his daughter Summer Heavy Runner, siblings Deanna (Randall) Hoof, Ace Black Plume, Kendrick Shouting, Micheal and Mariyah Black Plume.
Keenan attended school at the Kainai High School on the Blood Reserve and loved his community of Moses Lake where he met many friends and helped out when he can. He loved being with his family especially when he was young, often was with his younger siblings, Leona, Daynin, Ace and Micheal at Grandpa Ricky’s in Lethbridge and then they would come to Cardston to Grandma Ramona’s where he was very close to her and always felt his responsibilities to cook for her as he got older. Keenan was blessed with a daughter who he loved very much and although left us at a young age, he will carry his love for her through eternity.
He loved to play tricks on his cousins; one time he cubed onions and placed them in his cousin Celine’s porridge and to this day she dislikes onions. Keenan had a very close bond to his Late Sister Leona, and they would be together, confide with one another and often stick up for each other if they were in trouble. There bond was like no other and he was often lonely for her when she passed away in December 2020. Now they are together and forever they will be together. Keenan had so many people close to him and he will be missed dearly as he left a big void in each of our hearts.
He was survived by Aunties: Gloria (Jim) Randy, Margaret (Ron) Across the Mountain, Mary Ann (Les) Heavy Runner, Rita Calf, Linda (Craig) Fox, Hope (Virgil) Reevis, Noreen and Trina Black Plume; Uncles: Norbert Across the Mountain, Melvin (Christine) White Man, Patrick White Man. Adopted Aunties and Uncles: Agnes, Pearline Heavy Runner, Marlene (Tom) Good Rider, Noreen Heavy Runner, Colleen (Tiny) Tailfeathers, Tonya (Shawn) Tailfeathers, Lesley, Wesley (Sharon) Heavy Runner. He had many friends all over Moses Lake and Lethbridge, especially his best friend, Landon Strikes With a Gun. He comes from a large extended family such as Black Plumes, Calf, Sun Walk, Many Bears, Scalplocks, Sleigh, White Elk, White Eagle (Siksika Nation), White Man, Healy, White Bull, Old Person, Heavy Runner, Davis, Gladstone, Hind Bull, Spotted Bulls, Mountain Horse and Across the Mountain, Big Sorrel Horse, Creighton, Wolf Childs, Birds.
Keenan was predeceased by his parents Tama Black Plume and Marvin Bird. Grandpa Ricky White Man, and brothers Richard Jr. Black Plume-White Man, Darcy Black Plume, Daynin Healy.
