With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear Tanya Buckskin. She was a
cherished daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose kindness and
warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Tanya was truly a social butterfly. She had a special gift for making everyone feel
welcome and valued. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence could light up any room. She was a comical person that could make any situation easy with her humor. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were the center of her world and her greatest joy. Whether it was family gatherings, simple visits, or sharing stories and hugs, she treasured every moment with them. She will be remembered for her loving heart, her vibrant spirit, and the deep devotion she had for her family. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the many beautiful memories she leaves behind.
Tanya is survived by her Children Danielle, Kobi Anne, Heidi Mason, Zenna (Buck), and CJ; The love of her life Curtis Black Rabbit; Grandchildren Gabe, Luka, Luna and Baby Isaac; Mother Geraldine Medicine Crane, Sisters Annette Soup, Vanessa (Mitch) Doore, Claitinna (Chris) Buckskin, Jeriann (Mandy) Red Crow, Gwen (Wesley) Heavy Runner; Aunts Maryann Buckskin, Sandra (Chris) Shade; Uncles Jasper (Gabrielle) Buckskin; Special Niece Nikki Soup, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Tanya is predeceased by; her father(s) Gilbert Medicine Crane & Ike Eagle Speaker, Brothers; Fabian and Lindsey Medicine Crane & Renny Soup, Uncles; Eric Buckskin, Leslie Buckskin & Julius Spear Chief, Aunts; Marina No Runner, Nina Buckskin and Freda Buckskin, Grand Parents Reggie and Gladys Buckskin, Grandmother Minnie Long Time Squirrel (Ihtakootao’p); Grandfather’s Buckskin Horse Rider- Issikowa’sohkitopi & Ernst Brave Rock (Maternal); Cousins Winslow (Dutch) Buckskin, Leslie Jr. (Tincey) Buckskin, Robert No Runner, Dwight (Pickles) Buckskin, Brian Buckskin, Shaylee No Runner, Ben Calf Robe & Kelvin Black Horse.
Tanya’s extended families included Brave Rocks, Hunts, Heavy Runners, Williams, Eagle Bears, Red Crows, Tail Feathers, Cottons, Heavy Shields, Medicine Cranes, Kings, Spotted Bulls, Wadsworth’s, Across the Mountains, Panther Bones, Hind Man, Turning Robe, Chief Many Spotted Horse, and Rainy Chief, Black Horse (Sikmiota’si). Tanya comes from the Tall Timber Clan.
A wake service will be at Moses lake Community Hall, Blood Reserve, Alberta on Sunday February 22, 2026 from 6:00 - 10:00 pm. The Funeral service will also be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Moses Lake, Blood Reserve on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow at Black Rabbit Cemetery.
