ARLENE “Peewee” BULLSHIELDS - CROW CHIEF “Maakootaan (Wolf Daughter)” passed away on August 22, 2023 in Lethbridge, AB. Today, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved sister, Peewee at the age of 68 years. Her bright light and big heart left us too soon, but we will remember her warmth, love, generosity and caring spirit. She has reunited with all her loved ones in the traditional hunting grounds.
Peewee is survived by her beloved husband Mike Fox who embraced every moment with her. He took great care of our sister. Mike loved Peewee so much. She is also survived by her dear mother, Barbara Bullshields, her loving son Lane, Brian, Tim and Eva. Her precious grandbabies Trinity, Shiloh, Gracie, Charm, Moby, Tsawakee, Riley and Adonis. She is also survived by big brothers Randy (Anita), Andrew Bull Calf, Dino Crow Chief, Terence Bottle, and her sisters, Penny (Mike), Joanne (late Stan Scout), “Tobi” Glenda (Rusty), Verda (Marcel), Debbie (Albert), Noreen, Lana (Les). Also survived by Uncle and Auntie Charlie and Betty Crow Chief, Richard Wells and Bertha Weasel Fat.
Peewee was born May 20, 1955 at the old Blood Indian Hospital. Peewee’s education included St. Mary’s and St. Paul’s Residential Schools, Cardston, Magrath and McCoy High School –Medicine Hat. Peewee graduated from Lethbridge Community College gaining employment with Kainai Children’s Services under the “Early Intervention Program”.
Peewee was in a life-threatening accident in 1998 and never fully recovered. She also went through a traumatic event losing her daughter Tara. Peewee was never the same. The relationship she had with her daughter Tara was not like any other. They could be seen cuddling all the time, that’s how close they were. They are now reunited.
Peewee showed a lot of courage during her battle with her illness. Creator felt Peewee needed to be elsewhere, took her hand and brought her home.
For all who knew Peewee, she was a woman of great integrity, a very private person and quiet, but a woman of rock solid faith. She believed she would win this battle but Creator had other plans for her.
