August 6, 1954 - December 19, 2024

Charles "Chucky" Bullshields Jr. “Piiwaakotaasii”, beloved father grandfather and brother, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 70 years old.
Charles was predeceased by his loving wife, Beatrice "Bea" Bullshields. He leaves behind 2 daughters, Morning Star Marcellay and Khena Bullshields; his grandchildren Jack George, Hok Chante Marcellay, Tia Red Star Marcellay, Matheaus Sage and his grand daughter Lily; his brothers Newton (Lena) Bullshields, Clint Medicine Crane, Pete Anthony, Ray Thunder Child; his sisters Diana Plume, Pauline Whitegrass, Muriel Bullshields, and Melinda Bullshields.
Charles was predeceased by sisters Beatrice and Lillian; brothers Jeffery, Leonard, and Kobin Bullshields; his grandparents Chris Bullshields and Rosey Small Eyes; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Charles Bullshields Jr. was born on August 6, 1954 in Cardston, Alberta to the late Charley Bullshields Sr. And Irene Prairie Chicken Bullshields. Charles aka “Chucky” was a strong survivor of St. Paul’s Residential School. He was also a very wise, quiet and private person.
He traveled all over the United States and Western Canada. Leaving behind many friends from all his travels. He loved to sing and was a traditional dance. He was a well known artist, he attended Sante Fe Indian Art School. He also illustrated a children book “The Buffalo Stone” “Iniskin”. He drew many portraits of elders from the Blood Reserve and of family as well.
He was extremely proud of his sobriety. Moving back home with his wife Bea Bullshields and later became a member of “The Horns White Buffalo Society”. Together they raised their adopted children Jason, Lisa, Tina, David, and Doron along with their grandchildren Big Mac and Corielynn. He also taught art in Crowne Brook Elementary School. He lived a full life, every New Years Eve he looked forward to playing “Aggravation” with his siblings and that was their New Year Eve celebration. He was also a real good pool player, card player and he could sing 49 songs. He had lots of stories to tell about his life and his travels.
All people attending his services, are all honorary pallbearers. After the services on December 30th, the family invites everyone to come eat with them at the Old Agency Hall.
A Wake Service will be held at Old Agency Hall, Blood Reserve, AB on Sunday, December 29 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will also be held at Old Agency Hall on Monday, December 30 at 12:00 pm. The interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Stand Off, AB.
