LILLIAN BULLSHIELDS “Iitomiitopi” passed away at the Cardston Hospital on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at the age of 63 years old. Lillian was born on March 20, 1953 at the Old Indian Hospital on the Blood Reserve to the late Charlie and Irene Bullshields.
Mom is survived by her children Jennifer (Tony) Many Bears, Alica (Byron) Sandoval, Bradford (Andrea) Mistaken Chief, Jono (Chrissy) Mistaken Chief, Christine Bullshields, Dana Pepion, and Tarzan, Bubbles and Pickles. Grandchildren Keanen (Larissa), Kiana, Kaiden, Miles, Madden, Torie(Kaitlyn), Tage, Taran, Taejaunne, Tienan, Thera, Tielar, Taveah, Jordan, Jett, Dakota, Julian, Sylis, Kariah, Jacob, Nathan, Drayton, Nellie and Scarlett. Three Great Grandchildren.
Her siblings: Diane Plume, Pauline White Grass, Melinda, Jeffrey (Vicky), Charles Jr. (Bea), Newton (Lena) Bullshields and Marvin(Lydia) Mistaken Chief. God Daughter Amanda Bullshields. And her only surviving uncle Frank(Janice) Small Eyes. Her adopted children Lester (Sherry) Crow, Eugene Black Water, Lucille Black Water, Kelly Mills, Kyla Crow, Sheldon Young Pine, Ronnie (Cynthia) Scout Sr. Shannon (Duane) Black Rabbit, Clayton (Robin) Knife, Charles (Jessica) Shouting, Cameron (Melissa) Shouting, Monty and Corrie Rabbit, Duce (Becky) Cross Child and their children.
Adopted siblings Roberta Calf Robe, Lucille Goldade, EagleBoy Kipp, Eileen Bullshields, Brenda (Bill) Weasel Fat, Carla Wells, Clint Medicine Crane, Roy Whitney, Peter and Rita Anthony, Patty Gillian, and many more too numerous to mention. We apologize as she had many adopted brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mom lived a full life, full of Love for everyone she met. She was cared for by her son Jono & daughter in law Chrissy for her last 17 years. She was able to care for and give each of her children giving 100% of her time to each. Lillian was full of life, laughter and happiness. She found love in everyone. She showed no fear of the life ahead and never leaving you without a hug and an I love you. Her love showed in everyone she met, teaching everyone along the way. Mom would give you her last dollar if it meant you were getting where you needed to go.
Lillian had the opportunity to work for the Blood Tribe Police, Graduating from the Solicitor General College in Edmonton, Alberta in 1989 following the footsteps of her father Charlie Bullshields Sr. and her brother Jeffery Bullshields. After her retirement as a Police Officer she continued to work for the Blood Tribe Police 10 more years.
Mom Graduated from the Lethbridge College Upgrading Program followed by Nechi Training from 1980-1982 and becoming a Life Skills Coach in 1984. Mom was always in the field of helping. Mom was also a constant believer of the holistic properties of healing medicine.
Mom was an avid athlete in the field of Ladies fastball with the Standoff Jets as a Pitcher she also enjoyed a game of golf and the casual game of pool. Her biggest enjoyment was dancing Ladies Traditional Dance with her sisters Pauline and Diane and Traditional Dancing with brother Jeffery. Later in life she had a constant love with her sisters Melinda and Beatrice connecting with each other loving more and more each day.
Her recent years she got to spend a lot of time with her sister Muriel, Brothers Chucky and Newton and Lena, protecting them and enjoying life as she did with baby brother Kobin. Mom was Mom and sister to many individuals spending time with her adopted brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren. Mom accepted everyone whole heartedly.
Mom fulfilled her dream of becoming a member of the Mootokits Society, her dream since she was a child. Also fulfilling her dream of travelling to Disneyland with her son Jono and Chrissy and Alfreda. The look in her eyes when she was walking into Disney, she said” this is truly the happiest place on earth!” Mom was an avid traveller with Pauline, Odille, Annie-Treasa, Treasa Black Water and Christine White Man left to Hawaii and Nashville Tennesse. She also travelled to Las Vegas with her brother Newton her son Jono and adopted son Eugene to support them in the World Pool Championship, then travelling to Hollywood, California for a day trip.
In her earlier days she spent time with her nieces: Angela, Anita, Paula, Stephanie and nephews: Lydell and Mike taking them all over.
Mom helped with the Headdress Society as the Secretary and making sure she helped with the Lethbridge Hurricanes Teddy Bear Toss.
In moms down time she spent with her 4 legged companions Tarzan, Guard dogs Nellie and Scarlett and cats Pickles and Bubbles teaching them how to smudge and listen to Blackfoot their favorite TV show was Forensic Files.
Mom was an active member in the community she volunteered at the Kainai Food Bank, she was an Elder for the Prevention & Support Programs at Kainaiwa Children’s Services Corporation, she was the secretary for the Headdress Society and she was a member of the Motokiits Society.
Mom was a very caring and generous person, she embraced everyone in her community, she loved her community, you would often find her sitting at the BTA whether it was selling toys, food or just visiting with family and friends, she enjoyed being out in the community, she really enjoyed visiting and meeting people, she would share her stories with people and she loved to make people laugh. Mom would often give words of encouragement and words of advice, she would listen to what you have to say and she had this warmth about her that will be missed. Mom was also a very strong individual, she overcame many triumphs, and she succeeded greatly in life.
Mom had many accomplishments, she graduated from the Police Acadmeny and worked for the Blood Tribe Police, she was a life coach, she had her Nechi Training.
Mom was blessed to have met everyone in her lifetime allowing everyone into her heart.
Mom had a very special bond with her Mom and Dad caring for them and learning from them. These traits that mom showed she made sure she passed them to everyone she loved and met.
Mom always said “ do your best and no matter what I am always proud of all of you. I cannot promise you gifts or shower you with them, but I can promise I Love you Always and I will be Okay.” She loves her Rocks, and loved singing Traditional Songs.
When mom joined the Mootokits she seeked guidance in Her Holy Mother, Agnus First Charger. Mom spoke highly of everyone she met. She loved selling Goods at B.T.A. for herself and her son Jono because that is how she got to visit with everyone from every Walk of Life.
Mom has a special connection to everyone in her family and her friends.
The family wishes to apologize for anyone that was missed as she was family and friends to the World.
