BUTLER
Asael LeVerre Butler
Dec 25, 1929 – Sept. 4, 2020
Asael LeVerre Butler, beloved husband of Maida Bohne Butler, passed away Sept. 4th at his home in Lethbridge, Alberta.
LeVerre was born Dec. 25, 1929 in High River, Alberta. His family moved to Hill Spring where he grew up on the family farm and played with the family band. In 1950 he married his sweetheart, Maida Bohne and together they raised a daughter: Bonnie and four sons: Leonard, Ken, Greg and Darren. He enjoyed being with his family and played card games with all his posterity. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and through example encouraged his family to follow its principles.
LeVerre tried his hand at a number of occupations before settling on farming. He partnered with Elmer Derricott and the Orr brothers to break prairie wool. He farmed on the Blood and Piikani Reserves, as well as helped at a feed lot near Fort Macleod. He had an active life, raising sheep, cattle and several horses. However, raising cattle was the deepest in his blood. After selling all his sheep and cattle it was not long before he decided to buy a few cattle for his enjoyment. He enjoyed stream fishing and camping in the mountains. He retired from being a ditch rider for the UID of Glenwood in 1997 and then in 2006 he and Maida sold the family farm and retired to Lethbridge.
LeVerre is survived by his loving wife, Maida, daughter Bonnie Wilde of Springville, UT, daughter in law Emma Peterson (Myron) of Cardston, sons: Ken (Joy) of Pincher Creek, Greg (Kay) of Martensville, SK, and Darren of Glenwood.
