MAIDA JULIETTE BUTLER passed away on June 03, 2021, at Saint Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Maida was born on February 08, 1931, in Glenwood, Alberta. She grew up on the family farm north of town. During her early school years, she rode a horse with her siblings to and from school. For her later schooling, the family moved into Glenwood for the week and walked to school. Then on the weekend, they would go by wagon back to the farm.
In 1950 Maida married LeVerre Butler. Together they raised five children. She finished high school while helping on the farm and raising the first three of those five children.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served in many positions, and through example, encouraged her family to follow its principles.
She enjoyed stream fishing, camping in the mountains, and summer trips to British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, California, Texas, Utah, or Kalispell to be with family. She also enjoyed having adventure trips with LeVerre up and down the West coast.
Maida was an industrious woman and did many things to help LeVerre on the farm and supplement the family income. She helped move cattle and machinery, drove a school bus, sold Avon, raised chickens, and helped feed bummer calves and lambs. Maida managed her time well, always kept a tidy house and large garden, and offered good food for everyone after a busy day. Through all those active years, she also did beautiful needlework.
In 2006 LeVerre and Maida sold the family farm and retired to Lethbridge where they enjoyed many quiet years together.
