It is with great sorrow that CAROLINE ANNA CAHOON, daughter of late Herman & Elsie Aldridge passed away peacefully at the Cardston Hospital on October 19, 2019.
Caroline is survived by her brother, Arden Aldridge (Sharon), and sister-in-law, Madeleine Aldridge (Frank). Her husband, Lawrence Cahoon and siblings Bill Aldridge (Mary), Olive Crooks (Walter/Skin), Ardith Tjornelund (Otto) and Frank Aldridge predeceased her.
She is loved & mourned by numerous nieces and nephews; as well as grand nieces and nephews.
Caroline was born February 18, 1926 in Cardston Alberta and was raised and schooled in Jefferson. She met her soulmate, Lawrence Cahoon, and married December 17, 1949 a union that lasted over 65 years.
Caroline received her nursing designation at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary in 1948 winning the “award for proficiency in surgery” in her graduating class and had a varied career in public health for many years. She was assistant matron at the Cardston Hospital, Director of Nursing at the Blood Indian Hospital until 1968, Senior nurse at Chinook Health Unit until 1986 when she retired. She really loved working in the community and especially with all the wonderful people from the Blood Reserve who she spoke of favourably whenever she was asked about her career.
She is loved & mourned as well by numerous nieces and nephews; and was always interested in knowing what was going on with her grand nieces and nephews.
A Family Graveside Service will be held starting at Legacy Funeral Home on Friday, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment at the Leavitt Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In honour of Caroline, there will be a light luncheon and gathering of family and friends at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leavitt, AB beginning at 12:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the Cardston Hospital, Dr. Leavitt and the nurses who attended her in her final days.
