ANNA CAMPBELL, beloved wife Allen Campbell, passed away in Hill Spring, AB on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the age of 84 years.
Anna Rose Campbell, beloved wife of Allen Campbell and longtime resident of Hill Spring, Alberta, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 28, 2020, at the age of 84. Anna was born on May 29, 1936 in the small village of Neuendorf, South Russia (now Ukraine). In 1949, following World War II, she and her family immigrated to Canada. While working as a waitress at a diner in Brooks, AB, she met a young man who was working on the Trans-Canada Highway and who came in every day for more reasons than the food, so it seems. Anna Magda married Allen on November 15, 1954; it was in Allen’s hometown, of Hill Spring, that they raised their family of five wonderful children: Robert, Vicky, Judy, Donna and Darren. Anna was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother – she loved her family and loved to be with them. She had a love of dance and spent countless hours sewing costumes for her children, who became very proficient dancers and performers. It gave her great pleasure when some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren continued the dancing legacy. Anna was an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, and found it difficult, when health issues prevented her from regular attendance at meetings and ward functions. She was a woman of great faith and integrity, witty and mischievous and one who loved to laugh and play. Anna was perhaps the greatest actress that no one ever knew, for she never wanted anyone to know the suffering she had to endure and would always put on a smile on whenever visitors came. She had a gift to make people feel special, always leaving better than when they came. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her friendliness, kindness and generosity. Anna was predeceased by her father Johann Peters, a brother Hans (Peters) and a sister Anna (Peters); her stepfather Peter Magda and her mother Anna Ens. Anna is survived by her eternal sweetheart, Allen Garth Campbell; brothers, Victor (Ulla) Magda and Peter Magda; sister, Kathy (Cliff) Davis of Winnipeg; and her children; Bob (Pat) Campbell of Hill Spring, Vicky (Nolen) Olsen of Mountain View, Judy (Brandon) Smith of Lethbridge, Donna (Dean) Seely of Hill Spring and Darren (Rita) Campbell of Cardston; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, all who will miss their “Oma”.
Friends may meet the family on Thursday evening, October 1 at the Legacy Funeral Home in Cardston from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. A short graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 2 at the Hill Spring Cemetery. The family extends appreciation for the many acts of kindness and expressions of love received at this time and through the years of Anna’s illness.
