Gordon Cyrus Card, of Magrath, passed away at the Good Samaritan Garden Vista on July 7th, 2026 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his wife Barabara, his parents, Cyrus and Marie and grandson Clay Card.
Gordon will be deeply missed by his children and grandchildren Gord (Marie), Rhett (Talia) and Janelle and Shandy (Mark), Kent Tilley, Tatiana (Josh), Jessica and Grant.
Gordon was a proud father and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren; he was proud of their accomplishments and enjoyed watching them in their activities. They gave him the greatest joy in life.
Gordon was born and raised in Magrath and went on to raise his family there. He worked up north in his late teens and early 20’s where he met his wife. He married Barb April 19, 1967 in Edmonton before returning to Magrath. Together they operated the family farm until 2010 when his son, Gordie and his wife Marie took over. After he moved to Good Sam’s he loved to know all of the daily goings on and was proud to watch his son and grandson, Rhett, grow it over the years. In addition to the family farm, he started an excavating business, Sunshine Excavating Ltd, in 1980 with one backhoe. He grew the business from working by himself with one machine to multiple machines, many great employees and lots of projects.
In the later years he and Barb would travel south in the winter, enjoying warm states like Nevada and Texas.
A Graveside service will be held at the Magrath Cemetery on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m.
