ALBERT THURE “ABE” CARLSON, beloved husband of Jane (Romeril) Carlson, passed away in Cardston, AB, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the age of 89 years. Albert was born to Thure and Lilly Carlson of Jefferson, AB, on September 20, 1936, in Cardston, AB. He was the second of five children, being the only boy.
Growing up in Jefferson, Albert completed all of his Primary Schooling there. He then attended the Provincial Institute of Technology and Art in Calgary, AB (SAIT), where he studied Radio and Electronics Technology, while playing Basketball for the school. Albert was offered the opportunity to try out for the UCLA Bruins, but he chose to work for AGT instead. After working for AGT for a few years, Albert’s Dad finally convinced him to return home to his true love - the farm. He turned his family farm into the largest fullblood Gelbvieh ranch in North America. The ranch became known for selling live animals, embryos, and semen throughout the world. Albert was recognized as a lifetime member of the Foothills 4H Beef Club for his many years of service.
He was quiet and hardworking. Albert had a knack for growing trees at a young age. Friends and neighbours referred to him as “Honest Abe.” He loved his cows, all sports, and especially his family. Albert was known for attending all of his kids' and grandkids' sporting events. It didn’t matter how far away it was; he would do his best to be there.
Albert was predeceased by his sisters Sylvia Carlson and Leila Nodwell, as well as his brothers-in-law, Denzil Jensen, Jack Nodwell, and David Nance.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Lon (Lorraine) Carlson, Ace (Wendy) Carlson, Randee (Linden) Litchfield, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as his 2 sisters, Gretta Jensen and Martha Nance.
Friends may meet the Family at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston, AB on Wednesday, May 27th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. At the families request there will be no funeral. Cremation.
