LEON KELLY TY CHIEF MOON “Aanatsaoka’simm” on February 14, 2022, near Hill Spring, Alberta at the age of 26. Ty was born on May 2, 1995, in Lethbridge Regional Hospital, Alberta. Ty is survived by his parents Leon Shot Both Sides and Charlene Gros Ventre Boy; maternal great grandfather Harrison Wolf Child; paternal grandparents Matthew and Maryann Chief Moon; maternal grandmother Sylvia (Late Patrick B.S.B) Gros Ventre Boy; siblings, Kenneth Shot Both Sides, Tyann (Kane), Kyle, Hayley (Brett), and Shaylynn Chief Moon; aunties, Chrissy Chief Moon and Kristy (Matt) Bare Shin Bone; great uncles, Jimmy (Melinda) Chief Moon, Rodney Black Plume, Donald (Joyce) Wolf Child, Harrison (Lorraine) Gros Ventre Boy, Joe and Norbert Across The Mountain; great aunties, Shirley Chief Moon, Doreen and Bernice Black Plume, Molly and Margaret (Murray) Gros Ventre Boy, Rose (Stan) Hairy Bull, Christine (Bobby) Healy, Rosabelle, Brenda, Carmen Bare Shin Bone, and Roxanne Across The Mountain; nieces and nephews, Leo, Zaylee, Zariah, Brylin, Rosaline, Aurora, Ezra, Aziel, Nelly, Sienna, Mattie, and Taelyn. Ty attended school at Levern Elementary School, Glenwood School, and graduated from Cardston High School in 2014, and was attending Red Crow Community College up until his passing. Ty was a hard worker; he was accepted into several programs including, Introduction to Trades with BTEST and Life Skills with Another Way Program. Each program presented Ty with an opportunity to prove his strong work ethic right up until completion. Ty began his occupational experience as a security guard in Standoff, and most recently in Wateron at Bayshore Inn where he worked alongside his mother Charlene. Ty enjoyed his position with Bayshore and was excited to return in the upcoming season. Ty and his siblings were as close as can be. As the oldest, Ty was their role model, and set a good example with the choices he made. They would all assist one another when needed. Ty was an encouragement to his siblings and always wanted what was best for them. Ty loved all his nieces and nephews equally; he would always buy them what they needed and took them as his own. Ty could never say “no” to his nieces and nephews when asked, and his love for them was evident during the time he spent playing with them. Being an uncle brought Ty so much joy. He shared his pride with his family. It was a dream of his that he often shared, to one day start a family of his own. Ty wanted children, but he was waiting until he found his dream woman. Ty wanted to finish school and graduate from college. He always stayed on top of his classes and grades. He stayed up late to complete his assignments and made sure they were submitted in on time. Ty loved playing online video games and his favourite was War Zone; he would stay up all hours of the night playing and enjoyed playing with his friends online. Ty listened to all genres of music. He wasn’t into any sports, but he would occasionally play basketball with his siblings and cousins. Ty had such a caring heart; he always made sure his family and friends were okay. Ty had numerous friends that cared for him; he had a special bond with his good friend Drake Eagle Speaker, whom he had met during his high school years. Drake’s mother had no problem with Ty calling her “mom”, as the two boys were closer than brothers. Ty shared a special friendship with all his relatives and close friends. Ty was a very caring young man who had no shame in showing his love with his immediate family. His nightly routine consisted of him telling his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews that he loved them. He loved his cat Nala; he would sleep with his cat and would not let her out of his sight. Ty was predeceased by his Great Grandmothers,Grandfathers Maryrose Gros Ventre Boy and Paul Sr. & Mary stella Bare Shin Bone, Jim & Annie S.B.S, Leo Chief Moon, Bernadette Morning Owl; grandfather Allen Bare Shin Bone; Uncles; Tex G.V.B, Reo Hairy Bull, Bruce, Paul Jr B.S.B, Louis, Jordan Chief Moon, Douglas, Ronnie, and Willy Black Plume. The Wake Service will be held on Tuesday, February 22 from 5:00 - 11:00 pm at the Tanner Center, Cardston, AB. The Funeral Service will take place at Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston on Wednesday, February 23 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery.
