Shirley Clifton, aged 93, passed away on November 7, 2024, at Hawthorne Assisted Living in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. Born in Taber Alberta, on August 13, 1931, Shirley lived a happy life full of family and friends. Her vivacious spirit uplifted everyone around her.
Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Dean Clifton, in 2008, her parents Sydney D. Stubbert in 1979 and Norma Edna Russell in 2002, her brothers Terry Stubbert in 1975, and Don Stubbert in 2022, and her son-in-law Mark Thomas in 2023. She is survived by a loving family, including her daughters Lorie Thomas of Cochrane, AB, Norma Bartlett (Randy) of Sandy, UT, and Vickie Bowen of Lehi, UT. Shirley also leaves behind her brothers Dale(Nance) Stubbert and Tim (Norma) Stubbert. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Jared Thomas, Chad Thomas, Shelby Lynn (Matt) Livingston. Chantelle (Troy )Riches, Trevor (Amanda) Bartlett, Robert Dean (Natalie) Bartlett, Nathan Bartlett, Benjamin (Keturah)Bartlett, Tyler(McKay) Bartlett. Kyle (Chanel) Bowen, Steve (Meredith) Bowen, Matt (Sloan) Bowen, Krista (Carson) Heninger, and Aimee (Carlos) Evelo . Additionally, she was a proud great-grandmother to 33 great-grandchildren. Shirley had a profound love for music enjoying concerts, musicals, and LPs on her cherished stereo, as well as singing in many duets, quartets, and choirs. She sang and danced in local productions of "Oklahoma" and "The Music Man" and directed children's choirs, ward and Relief Society choirs, as well as congregations for most of her adult life. In Magrath, Shirley directed Community Christmas programs with her dear friend Elizabeth Davies Olsen. An active individual, Shirley enjoyed walking, biking, swimming and boating. She was an excellent ice skater, having grown up in Edmonton where she could skate outdoors all winter. A devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shirley's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her service and community involvement. A service to honor Shirley’s life will be held on November 23, 2024, in Magrath, Alberta, Canada.
