DEAN MARTIN COOMBS, passed away on January 14, 2023 at the age of 74 years. Dean Martin Coombs was the 5th child and New Year’s baby born January 1, 1949, in Brooks, Alberta to John James “Jack” and Mary Isabella Coombs. They moved to Cardston when he was young which is where he grew up and graduated high school. After high school he served a mission to Southern France for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 2.5 years. It was on his mission that he first met the love of his life and future wife Françoise. Together they raised their family in Cardston and Leavitt. Dean is survived by his 5 children Sandra (Mark), Céline, Tammy (Vance), Jonathan (Karli), Mary (Jesse), 21 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Surprisingly, love “tapped him on the shoulder” when he met Michelle and they were both enjoying their second chance at building a new life together. A cowboy at heart, Dean’s passions included reading Louis Lamour books and watching westerns, riding and breaking horses, card games, archery, hunting, camping and fishing. Most of all Dean loved spending time with his family and friends. He was passionate, loyal, forgiving, kind, generous and dedicated to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
