H. DONNA COOPER of Kimball Alberta, beloved wife of John Cooper, passed away peacefully September 10, 2019 at the age of 82 years.
Donna is survived by her husband John, son Robert, daughters Connie (Brad) and Wendy (Jeff) and her three brothers Duane, Roy (Carolee) and Jim.
Donna is also survived by ten precious grandchildren: Robert Jr, Jordan, Bosten, Taylor, Madison, Cooper, Chase, Bergen, Torrance, and Neveah.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Harold and Helen Leavitt, John’s parents Tom and Anna Cooper, brother Greg and sister-in-law Lola.
Donna was born and raised in southern Alberta where she worked on the family farm. At an early age she fed and milked the cows with her brother Duane. She developed her love of animals at a young age. Donna especially loved horses, spending hours playing and riding. At the tender age of fifteen she met the love of her life, John, who happened to be her brother’s best friend.
Donna and John’s dating years were spent attending many dances which was a true joy for them! Donna and John were married September 15, 1956 in Lethbridge AB. They resided in Lethbridge for one year, followed by a move to Calgary for work. Over the next several years Donna worked in dry cleaning, courier driving and eventually operating the family courier and automotive businesses with John.
Donna spent many years raising her three children in Calgary. Countless hours were spent sewing dance outfits, knitting, crocheting and volunteering for school field trips. She was always available to help out anyone in need. Many of our holiday meals welcomed others that had nowhere else to go.
John and Donna returned to Cardston in 1988 where they operated the family automotive service. John and Donna became Temple workers in 1991, and would continue their service faithfully for the next twenty-one years. During that period, Donna spent nine years working in laundry at the Temple.
John and Donna loved to travel. Countless miles logged over the years attending car shows and antique swap meets.
In Donna’s final years she bravely faced the affects of dementia. Although there were times she could not remember names, faces and places, we could always feel her unconditional love for us.
