CYNTHIA JUNE “TAMMIE” (Ki’so’mmaki) CREIGHTON–MANY FINGERS, was born on June 17, 1959, at the Blood Indian Hospital to Mary (Arthur) White Quills (nee Coal) and John “Jiggs” (Arabella) Creighton; passed away peacefully on December 25, 2018, in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 59 years.
Tammie spent her time growing up in Washington and on the Blood Reserve, where she made many fond memories with her siblings.
In 1978, Tammie met Sonny and spent 18 years together raising there 3 daughters: Stacey, Sonya and Kyla.
Although, mom and dad weren’t together for more than 20 years; the love they had for each other and their family, they remained friends and spent each special occasion with the kids and grandkids.
Mom was employed off reserve with Parks Canada for a number of years before she decided to return to the Lethbridge College and study in the Business Management Program, it was at this time when her family started to grow. Mom was over joyed to welcome her 1st grandchild Keanu Keely Saige on January 29, 2001, Mom’s “China Girl”. With years following she was blessed with 8 more grandchildren: Tyreese, Shale, Mackenzie, Kya, Roan, Brayden, Ryker, and mom’s baby Alex.
Mom’s love for her grandchildren was unconditional and had no boundaries. As the grandchildren started to grow, mom started to find herself sitting in a gym or rink ready to cheer her grandchildren on, or sit on the sidelines watching as they practiced their Taekwon-Do and would often jokingly tell Kenzie “I can still kick your ass”. Mom loved to joke around, play tricks and tease her grandchildren and the grandkids would find ways to get back at grandma and you knew when they succeeded as you would hear her say “you damn shit!”. Mom loved her grandchildren so much, it wasn’t uncommon to see her chasing them around at the park and getting stuck in the playground while the kids stood beside her laughing.
Although mom suffered in pain from the cancer and liver disease, she never complained; her strong faith in our lord is what got her through her days.
Mom’s frequent phone calls to her siblings will be missed, mom always worried if they were okay and made sure to call and check in. Her laugh and crazy sense of humor were shared with them over the phone before hanging up.
Mom was a kind, humble, giving person with a big heart and caring nature; Mom always welcomed you with a big smile and made sure you were fed before leaving, even if it was sharing what she was snacking on.
Left to mourn mom’s passing are: life time friend Delbert “Sonny” Many Fingers, her daughters: Stacey (Niven) Wells, Sonya Creighton (Brian), and Kyla (Kevin) First Charger. Grandchildren: Keanu, Tyreese, Shale, Mackenzie, Kya, Roan, Brayden, Ryker, and baby Alex. Siblings: Verna (Ivan) Many Fingers, Natalie “Ophelia”, Charlene (Tim), Dee, Billy (Raeann), Cary (Candace), Henry (Carol), Jessie “Cookie”, and Jaunita “Ritzie” (Ivan) Creighton and Rod (Lavern) First Rider. Brother in Law: Robert Wells.
Tammie was predeceased by her parents: John “Jiggs” (Arabella) Creighton and Mary (Arthur) White Quills. Brothers: Brian and Alroy Creighton and Matthew Wells. Sisters: Sharon and Barbara “Tiny” Creighton, Joanne “Girlie” Wells and Janice “Lisa” White Quills. Brother in Law: Edwin “Smokey” Wells. Grandparents: Percy and Jessie (Nee Tail Feathers) Creighton and Cecile “Sootaa’ki” (nee Bare Shin Bone) and Charles Coal.
