It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandma, Shannon Louise Crying Head on Friday, May 19 2023 on the Blood reserve. Shannon was born on March 31,
1981 in Cardston, Alberta, to the late Martin Crane Chief and Geraldine Crying Head. Shannon was the loving mother to Garrett (Shasta), Blade, Shaquille, Leonard, Shaylynn, Nathan Gros Ventre Boy and Gunner Bastien, Godson, Zebediah Many Fingers. Shannon was also a proud grandmother to Darius, Sebastian, Erika, Brandon, Azarah and Tay’vion.Shannon also leaves to mourn auntie/mom
Wanda “Dolly” Crane Chief, siblings Audrey (Mikey), Marcella (Francis), Gerald Crying Head and Phillip Aberdeen, Harvey Many Fingers. Shannon also leaves to mourn uncle, Clarence Crane Chief,
aunt’s Rita Many Fingers, Elizabeth (Martin) Vielle, Veronica and Annie Crying Head. Relatives, Christine (Melvin) White Man, Evelyn Across The Mountain, Randy (Jaylene) Hairy Bull, Stanley
(Rose) Hairy Bull. Shannon was predeceased by her parent’s Martin and Geraldine, son, Brandon, paternal grandparents Dan and Eileen Crane Chief, maternal grandparents Sebastion and Rachel Crying Head, great grandma Annie Born With A Tooth, siblings, Marilyn and Nadine Crying Head. Shannon was also predeceased by her aunts Clara, Bernice, Doreen, Brenda, Linda (Micheal), Sherry (Blaine), Karen Crane Chief, Agnes Heavy Head, Mary Sweet Grass, Theresa (Tom) Crying Head, uncles Daniel, Douglas, Jonas, Roland and Cory Crane Chief, Steven Crying Head, Calvin and Leon Across The Mountain. Shannon grew up in the Little Chicago area amongst both her Crying Head and Crane Chief family’s. Growing up she only spoke Blackfoot. She attended school in Levern and St. Mary’s high school. Shannon later found employment at Ahsaopi school as a substitute teacher. Aapikayii Head Start, as a cook and teacher aid. Bay Shore Inn, Waterton, Pincher Creek, Bouvry Exports and Maple Leaf in Lethbridge Alberta. Shannon was a very hard worker and made sure her job was always done right, she was a bit of a perfectionist. Shannon loved each and everyone of her children and grandchildren, always spoiling them with whatever they wanted. In order to provide for her children she often looked for work. She enjoyed spending time with them and supported them in any way she could. Shannon was a very loving mother and grandmother. In her early years of becoming a mother, she made a comfortable home for her family and was a good cook, her relatives called her the frybread Queen! She often liked to tease her relatives and friends and had a contagious laugh. She liked going to concerts with her cousins, going to pow-wows and playing hand games. Shannon also played volleyball. Shannon was a very outgoing, friendly and loving person. She made everyone around her feel loved, she took care of you if you needed help and most of all her children and grandchildren were her world. Numerous relatives in the Crane Chief, Crying Head and Hairy
Bull families and Shannon’s numerous friends also mourn her passing. Our loving mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Candlelight Vigil for Shannon will be held at Harrison Gros Ventre Boy’s residence on Friday, May 26 at 7:00 pm. A Wake Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall, Blood Reserve on Monday, June 5 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm continuing all night at Harrison Gros Ventre Boy’s residence. The Funeral Service will be held at Senator Gladstone Hall on Tuesday, June 6 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in Pioneer Cemetery.
