It is with deep profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Wyatt Taylon Justice Day Rider - Piita (Eagle) on March 21, 2025, on the Blood Reserve.
Wyatt was born on November 8, 1996 to Sandy Healy and Jesse Day Rider, at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital. Wyatt is survived by his loving family, his pride and joy Christie Jessa Marie and her mother, Tylene Crow Chief. Wyatt was a devoted and extraordinary father. He poured his heart and soul into his baby girl, cherishing every moment he had with her. Knowing how special she was, he put great thought into naming her. Being sure to include the names of his late baby sister Christie Marie, his dad Jesse, his mom Sandy Marie and auntie Tanya Christie. Coming up with Christie Jessa Marie. Highlighting how loving and thoughtful Wyatt was in everything he did.
He is also survived by his special companion, whom he loved very much and shared a deep connection with, Caitlyn Morning Bull. Grandfathers; Leonard Day Rider and Richard Heavy Head. Siblings; Kaedan (Jenna), Bubba, Maddie, Meghan (Lane), Sarah (Julio) and Allie. Aunts; Tanya (Lance), Michelle (Justin), Paula (Calvin), Heather (Norbert Jr.), Reesa (Joseph), Mel (Bill) and Kim (BJ). God Parents; Sonya Shade and Neal Thunder Chief. Wyatt had several aunts, uncles and cousins that we would also like to acknowledge.
Wyatt was predeceased by his baby sister Christie Marie, his precious angels, grandma Lila Healy- Heavy Head and Dorothy Day Rider, Uncle Adam, cousins; R.J., Susan, Wildon, John, Lynn. Buddy, Danny and Waylon.
Wyatt was raised on the Blood Reserve in the Farm Four area where he resided all his life until his passing. He was such a cute chubby baby who was loved by everyone he met. Wyatt was many people’s first baby and was constantly doted on by family members and friends of family. As a baby, Sandy welcomed the help and willingness of his older cousins in taking care of him. There is many memories of Sarah, Allie, and Michelle dressing him up and taking turns pushing him around in their toy doll stroller. Wyatt loved the attentiveness and attention of his older cousins. The funny faces, cute clothes and many rides around Grandma Lila's house made Wyatt a happier baby than he already was. Grandma Lila’s house was the gathering place for the whole family to hangout and this made it one of Wyatt’s favorite places to be. He would always be seen at grandmas with a big smile, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. When Wyatt turned 4, he was eagerly ready to go to school at Grandma Lila’s HeadStart. He was her first grandchild to graduate from her HeadStart in 2000. He continued his early education at Saipoyi Elementary School, W.A. Day School and finished out his education in Cardston. To further his education, Wyatt decided to get his hands dirty and work with his grandpa’s. Starting with working with his grandpa Leonard and dad Jesse in the construction field, where he learned so much from both and continued into becoming a hardworking man. Wyatt also worked in the plumbing field and with his grandpa Richard, all the while learning this trade too. Wyatt was a quick learner and a hard worker, thriving in everything he could involve himself in. Whether it be with his family, in the work field or in sports.
Wyatt had a love for sports, he played hockey, softball and golf. In his early years Wyatt began skating with the Pre Novice hockey team at the age of 5. He proudly played with the Kainai hockey teams throughout his life up until his passing. In his adult years he would join many tournaments. Although it was hard watching him play full contact hockey, Wyatt loved the support that came from his #1 fan, his mother. He loved playing in tourneys alongside his dad. Wyatt loved his younger siblings and cousins so much he would jump at any chance to show them how to skate and to drop the gloves. He had so many friends that he met as a young child, growing up with them and keeping close throughout his adulthood. Wyatt also played with the Frog Lake Thunder Birds for a brief time. Wyatt also had a great love for softball. He played with 2 teams; Home Wreckers and Dixie Normous. In 2022 Wyatt put the team Home Wreckers together and entered a tournament in Cardston and they walked away with the championship! During the Magrath Days our family entered a team into the mixed slow pitch tournament, and he did not hesitate to play pitcher and encourage our family to have fun and enjoy our time together. It was a lot of fun for the whole family. Wyatt had dabbled a bit in the MMA field with his dad during his training, learning as much as he could. Wyatt loved to play any sport and loved the many people he met along the way.
Wyatt had such a big heart and the love for his family and friends was immeasurable. He had a special bond with each person. He loved when Scarlett and Ava would run up to him ready to fight and he’d be happily ready for them to pounce on him with excitement. The girls would get tossed around a bit then run away from him, yelling crazy words to him while expressing their wildness through flipping the bird and Wyatt would be teasingly swinging his fist at them saying “I’m going to get you! You better run!”
One memory that is held close by his family is Wyatt’s favorite song called Clint Eastwood by the Gorillaz. As a child, he would listen to it on repeat; headphones on and blasted. Wyatt would be seen walking up and down the hall with his head bouncing to the beat of the song. This song will always remind us of Wyatt.
Wyatt always had a soft spot for the less fortunate. He would give what he could, when he could. Wyatt is going to be dearly missed by his family and friends so much. A void in all our hearts, that will be deeply felt and will forever be there.
The family of Wyatt Taylon Justice Day Rider apologizes to anyone who we may have missed as Wyatt has a huge family on the Healy, Day Rider, Heavy Head and Eagle Bear’s and too many cousins and friends to mention.
