It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of dear husband, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend, Tyson Jamie Devine.
TJ was born September 1, 1982. He was a cute lovable baby boy; everyone in the family adored him. He was a mama’s boy, nursing him we had this special bond as a mother and son. Being a special son and nephew to everyone; he also had a unique relationship with Aunty Rena that he became a godchild to Aunty Rena. Our grandmother (late Annie Red Crow) had a hard time pronouncing his name TJ, so she called him Tsi’tsii and that name stuck with him. Growing up TJ was a very mischievous little boy always getting into mischief and when he did get caught for his wrong doings he would blame his older brother Troy, beside the fact they loved one another very much always defending one another through thick and thin. TJ attended Cardston Elementary School till Gr. 6 then transferred to TMS on the reserve. He was there for a few months. One day he comes home says mom I don’t want to go to that school TMS anymore. I asked why. He says mom too many Indians in that school. It’s scary. TJ had many hobbies. He was a backyard mechanic, he loved fixing his vehicles. He also learned to fix and put bikes together from scratch then gave them to kids in our community who didn’t have bikes. TJ was a caring, humble, backyard mechanic person always willing to help, no matter who you are he’ll help you. He enjoyed music and being with his family. At a young age TJ became a family man. He was so proud to be a dad, he was so committed in taking care of his family and proud to have twin boys. Besides love for his family TJ had 2 other focuses in life and that was pool and fastball. One day I asked him, son why don’t you go back to school, get an education while you are still young. He says Mom I rather not. Why! Well I want to be a professional pool player. That’s what I want to do. I say, OK son if that’s what you want then go for it. TJ spent a lot of time at Dino’s (Dean Hind bull) little pool hall in Moses. That is where TJ learned to play pool at an early age every day. He would be there all day long playing pool with the boys and learning from the pros. My boy had so much passion for pool, he was so excited when he started playing in the pool leagues in Lethbridge. From there on he went places winning many pool tournaments. The proudest moment was when he made it to Las Vegas USA. Along the way he made a lot of friends. To name a few, Calvin Chief Calf (Red) became his best friend and shared the love he had for pool. He became a Master in pool. TJ also loved playing fastball with the boys from Moses. Travelling many places playing fastball and also won many tournaments. TJ was known for teasing. Always teasing his siblings and cousin, friends he had a way with words giving them the craziest names. One of the favourite words he used a lot on us wherever we met him he would say is (Tsa). With the passing of his older brother Leland (Jake), it was devastating for him and Troy. They spent a lot of time together. TJ, Troy and Jake always together playing fastball or just hanging out with each other talking fastball or sports. They loved one another. Jake was the big brother. Then tragedy came to our family again. We lost our dear Tyson (grandson & nephew). That also took a toll on TJ. Not only was he a nephew to him, he took him like a son. They were very close. He would say he was proud that his nephew, Tyson, was named after him. He took care of all his nephews. They all spent a lot of time at his place or travelling with him anywhere TJ would go. He had the biggest heart and loved all of his family and friends. My boy James was the kindest, funniest, most lovable person and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
