MARK TAYLOR DOIG, beloved son of Rob and Becky Doig, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at the age of 25.
Mark was born on June 22, 2001. When he was just a few months old, he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a family car accident that changed the course of his life.
But it never changed who Mark truly was.
Mark’s life may not have looked like most people’s. He couldn’t walk or talk, but he had his own special way of communicating exactly who he was. He was gentle, joyful and full of personality. His smile and laugh could light up a room. Simply being around him had a way of making people better.
Without saying a word, Mark taught those who loved him some of life’s most important lessons. He taught us kindness, compassion, unconditional love, and what it truly means to be like Jesus Christ. He reminded us that a meaningful life is not measured by what someone can do, but by the love they give and the impact they have on the people around them.
And, Mark knew how to enjoy the things he loved. He loved going for walks, listening to music, playing with toys, swimming in his hot tub, spending time with the people who loved him, and, more than almost anything, The Monster at the End of This Book. If you knew Mark, you knew just how much he loved that book.
We will miss his smile, his laugh, his joy, and the quiet way he made all of us better simply by being who he was.
We take comfort in the words of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland:
“Loved ones whom we knew to have disabilities in mortality will stand before us glorified and grand, breathtakingly perfect in body and mind.”
After a lifetime in a body that placed so many limits on him, we find peace in knowing that Mark is now free from those limitations. And, we look forward with faith to the day when we will see him again, whole, joyful and unmistakably Mark.
Mark is survived by his parents, Rob and Becky Doig, siblings Alyssa, Austin, and Preston, grandparents Paul and Sheron Doig and Roy and Carma Prete along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and dozens of caregivers. We were all blessed by Mark’s life.

Friends may meet the family on Tuesday, August 25th from 7:00-8:00 pm at the Garden Place Chapel, Magrath, Alberta. The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Garden Place Chapel, Magrath, on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026 at 11:30 am. Interment to follow at the Magrath Cemetery.

We welcome donations to two charities that played a significant role in Mark’s life, the Ronald McDonald House and the Make a Wish Foundation.
But, perhaps the best way to honour Mark is to live the way he taught us to live: with kindness, joy, laughter, and unconditional love.
