RAYMOND MICHAEL EAGLE BEAR-“Piitaohkiaayo”
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond Michael Eagle Bear on Friday March 22, 2019 in Cardston.
Raymond was Born May 11, 1965 to Raymond Eagle Bear Sr. and Anne Wells.
Ray was raised by his grandparents Stanley and Madeline Eagle Bear and his Aunty Virginia Eagle Bear. His grandfather taught him how to work hard. He contributed to the family business of farming, ranching and the gas station. He also enjoyed working on the oil rigs.
He was very knowledgeable in his blackfoot culture he spoke the language. He enjoyed the time he would spend with his late grandfather they would sit at the table and he would share his stories with him. His grandparents made him a humble man, it showed by all the people he knew and cared about. Also you can't forget about his crazy sense of humour, always teasing his friends and family.
Raymond started school at a young age attending the St Paul’s Residental school he went on to attend Standoff Elementary, Cardston Jr and Sr. High school. He liked the trades and enrolled himself in the Lethbridge College Carpentry program that was being taught in Standoff. He decided to attend Red Crow Community College which he completed his Upgrading, Arts and Science and Kainai Studies program. Before his passing he was a 3rd year student at the University of Lethbridge in the Health Science Program.
Raymond enjoyed playing sports he excelled in hockey, baseball, golf, pool, hand games and Rodeo. He started hockey with Kainai Minor Hockey Association he went on to play with Lethbridge Native Sons (Jr. B), Kainai Golden Chiefs, Kainai Braves SR. AA, and Midnight Express. He won many champions and travelled to many tournaments. His highlight was when the Kainai Braves won the Ranchland League.
Ray enjoyed coaching his sons, before his passing he was one of the coaches for the Pee Wee Bull Horn Bucks and Cranston Pee Wee Thunders who his baby Alex plays with.
Ray was such a loving person and had so many friends. He enjoyed so many things working on vehicles, breaking horses, he also enjoyed beading, but most of the time spending his time with his children and grandchildren.
Raymond was survived by his wife Kyla; children Waylon Heavy Runner (Vanessa), Elissa "EJ" Heavy Runner (Trevor), Sarah Eagle Bear (Dustin), Allie Healy (Curly), Dalton Eagle Bear (Tyese), Raymond ”RJ”, and his baby Alex Eagle Bear. Siblings Carolynn Wells , Russell Wells (Candice), Natalie White Quills (Cody), Cory White Quills (Kim), Jana Day Chief (Danielle), Kelly Day Chief (Gifford), Lisa Red Crow(JB), Dana Wells (Dallas) and Jodi Wells, Phyllis Eagle Bear, and Dorothy Day Rider; Grandchildren: Tristan, Kayden, Kiroma, Whitney, Waysen, Tessa, Tahlia and Jaxon.
Ray was predeceased by his grandparents Stanley and Madeline Eagle Bear, his parents, Raymond Eagle Bear Sr. and Anne Wells, Siblings: James Wells and David Red Crow.
Raymond’s extended family: Wells, Cross Childs, Standing Alone, Knife, Sweetgrass, Mistaken Chief, and Eagle Bear.

A Wake Service will be held on Sunday, March 31st at the White Calf Hall, Standoff from 7:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
The Funeral Mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Monday, April 1st, at 11:00 a.m.
