
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunty Debra’s life ended before we were ready, A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Debra Helen First Charger (Nitsi ' Taakii - The Only Girl) after a lengthy illness with cancer on December 12, 2022 at the age of 61 years old in the St. Michael's Palliative Care Lethbridge. Born October 4, 1961, at the blood Indian Hospital in Cardston, Alberta to the late Frank Coal and Isabel Across the Mountain and was also raised by the late Paul Sr & Mary Stella Bare Shin Bone. She met her husband Rex First Charger in the early year of January 1979 together they raised 3 beautiful daughters and 10 grandchildren. They were legally married on May 29, 1995 and renewed their vows on their 24th Anniversary in 2019. Debra received her education at St. Paul's residential school, Cardston and Glenwood Jr High. She was very Athletic in sports such as fastball, Volleyball, basketball, track and field. In the Early 90’s she went back to school for upgrading in Lethbridge at Dorothy Gooder which she then moved to Calgary to attend Bow Valley College. She got a job with City Links to which she worked day and evening shifts. Her current employment before she became ill was with Kainai high School Day Care she was well loved by her coworkers and the children in her care. Debra and Rex along with their family lived in Coaldale in the 1980's for many years. Debra loved to travel with her parents Paul & Mary Stella to various camp meetings through out Canada and USA she also was in a church choir. Debra is survived by her husband Rex First Charger, 2 daughters Trisha, Kelsey, 10 grandchildren Elijah, Tyres, Dezray, Delray, Aurbenia, Faron, Silas, Isabel, illiana whom she called Miracle, brothers Laurie, Richard, Patrick, Eugene (Debra) Hairy Bull, Sister's Roxanne, Rono, Brenda, Carmen Bare Shin Bone, Charlene (Dion) David, Noreen Black Plume, Uncle Norbert Across the Mountain, Mother in law Clotilda First Charger, Brother in law's Ivan & Murray First Charger, Sister in law's Gayle, Suzanne First Charger, Brenda Eagle Plume, Wendy Shot Both Sides. She was predeceased by her daughter Rochelle, grand daughter Olivia, parents Frank Coal & Isabel Across the Mountain, Paul Sr & Mary Stella Bare Shin Bone, brothers Charles Coal, Brent Crazy Bull, Patrick, Paul Jr, Allan, Bruce, Fredrick Bare Shin Bone, Sisters Edna, Delores, Vivian, infant sibling Christina, Uncles James, Joe Across the Mountain, Aunt Christine Delorme Debra comes from a long line of family - Across the Mountain, Bare Shin Bone, Shot Both Sides, Coal's, Creighton, Crazy Bull, Many Finger's, Eagle Plume's, Winnie Panther Bone family, Donald Big Swallow Family, Eva Hind Bull family, Weasel Moccasin's, Fox's. Forever in our hearts you’ll stay, we will love you and remember every single day. We apologize for any names missed.
The Wake Service will be held at the Levern Hall, Blood Reserve on Friday, December 30 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the Levern Hall on Saturday, December 31 at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Pioneer Cemetery.
