ANNIE KNIFE FOX, Iittsitaatapaatism, wife of the late Jonas Fox, passed away suddenly in Cardston, AB on January 10, 2019 at the age of 72 years. Born on August 8, 1946 to the Late Jim & Maude Knife.
Annie is survived by her children Jessica and Adam; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Pete (May), Joseph (Margaret), Ed (Tammy), John (Jackie), Richard (Yvette), and George; she was raised with and very close to all her cousins, and her numerous nieces and nephews; Extended families: Knife - Pottstakiiksi and Naamopiisii clan, Chief Calf, Wolf Child, Shot Both Sides, Macdonalds, Spear Chief, Eagle Tail Feathers, Eagle Bear, Sweet Grass, Twigg, Plume, Big Swallow, Young Pine, Prairie Chicken, Day Rider, Crane Chief, Hind Bull, Wings, Allen Wells Family; and all her Bingo Buddies. The family apologizes to family and friends whose names were missed.
Annie attended the St. Mary’s Residential School and Standoff Day School, she went on to Business College to complete her Administrative Assistant program in Edmonton, AB. Annie was a hard worker starting at a very young age, her jobs included: farming, ranching, working in orchards and warehouses, as a custodian, a Restaurant supervisor/manager, and prior to her retirement she worked for the Blood Tribe Recreation Department. She lived in Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton, Yakima WA, and resided in Kelowna, BC where she raised her nieces Pam and Wanda for a short time. Upon her passing she was residing in her mother’s home on the Blood Reserve.
Annie’s favorite past time was playing Bingo and going to Casino with her friends and family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, and crocheting; she travelled a lot with her husband Jonas throughout Canada and the United States. It was not uncommon for her cousins and nieces to pick her up and accompany them on short trips. She cherished her pet cat - Silver whom she spoke to in Blackfoot and he understood her, and her latest companion was a rabbit living under her doorstep. She loved to listen to the Old Agency I Drum Group, whom her uncles Jimmy and John Chief Calf were a part of.
Annie was Pre-deceased by her children Reginald (Big Man) and Kenneth (Piiksinii), grandson Clint Knife; husband Jonas Fox, her sister Teresa Knife, her brothers Jim, Alec, George Sr. Dan, and Bill Knife; her parents Jim & Maude Knife; grandparents Albert & Mary Chief Calf, Knife, Uncles Jimmy and John Chief Calf, Louis and Louise Knife, and Aunts Isstootookmii, Helen Eagle Tail Feathers, Irene McHugh, and Katie Wells.
The Family Service will be held at Legacy Funeral Home on Thursday, January 17th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. followed by a Wake Service at White Calf Hall, Stand Off from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Blood Reserve on Friday, January 18th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Catherine’s cemetery. The family would like to invite you all to a feast at the White Calf Hall.
