It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, son, and nephew, Rudy Ranell Gros Ventre Boy, surrounded by family in Calgary on Friday, August 23, 2024.
Rudy is survived by his children, Presley, Ashton, and Riley, also by his grandson Travis. His father, Arnold Crying Head, his sister’s; Charlene (Cisco) Gros Ventre Boy, Lana (Rod) Crying Head, his brothers; Ruben Crying Head, Todd Crying Head. His uncles; Wesley (Noreen) Gros Ventre Boy, Dean Gros Ventre Boy, his aunties; Sharon (Wes) Heavy Runner, Carolyn Gros Ventre Boy, Vicki Day Chief.
Rudy has made his journey to his heavenly home to be joined with his family who have gone before him. His mother, Clara Crying Head, Grandparents Beattie and Ruby Gros Ventre Boy and Grandmother Mary Ann Crying Head, Grandfather Clive First Rider. Uncles: Randy GVB, Gabriel GVB, Randolphe GVB, Aunties: Judy GVB, Brett GVB, Brother’s Tyler Crying Head and Wendall (Teapot) Crying Head.
Rudy had a smile that could light up any room and a contagious laugh. He had a humorous personality and was always making everyone laugh. He was very comical. He was very easy going and loved and cared so much for his family. His children were very dear to his heart and he loved them very much.
Rudy attended school at the Cardston Elementary, Fleetwood Bawden Elementary in Lethbridge, Glenwood Jr. High, and Cardston High School and later attended Kainai High School to play football.
Rudy worked as a carpenter alongside his dad and uncle Richard Heavy Head. He was very smart and articulate with his words. Rudy was a sharp dresser and was fluent in his Blackfoot.
Rudy’s favourite hobby was being a mechanic and fixing up his cars. You could always find him under the hood or under the vehicle fixing something. He always loved to draw and create his own versions of cars, which he called his “Rude Concepts.” He also loved to cook and create new dishes. In his teen years he and his friends created a band in which he played guitar; they built a stage in his backyard and would have their own concerts.
Rudy your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. We will carry your memory in our hearts forever. We will grieve your presence in our life to the end of our days. And I know you are no longer in pain, but you’re watching over us as you always did.
Rudy was related to the Gros Ventre Boy, Crying Head, First Rider, Striped Wolf, Wadsworth, Heavy Head, and Sweet Grass Families. Sorry if anyone was missed.
A Wake service will be held at the Levern Community Hall, Blood Reserve, Alberta on Monday, September 2, 2024 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Funeral Service will also be held at Levern Community Hall on Tuesday, September 3 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in the Blood Band Cemetery.
