In her later years’, Elita was enrolled in a Social Work program which she enjoyed and made many friends. During her time in the hospital, she picked up and enjoyed painting as a hobby. Elita was also a major fan of her card games, often wanting to play Double Solitaire. Elita’s favorite song to play repeatedly was Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”, relating to the lyrics and striving to improve herself no matter the challenges.
Elita was well known for her outstanding personality, kindness, gentleness, and her humor. She was very friendly and liked to laugh and joke around. Elita was a very tough and strong individual, she would never back down, and she always looked out for her family and friends. Elita would never turn her back on anyone in need and would never ask for anything in return. Growing up, she was considered one of the boys, and often closer to her male cousins. She demonstrated true strength by doing everything she can to fight her sickness and live as long as she could for her kids. She can rest easy, for her strength in trying is smiled upon. She will be deeply missed.
