Mikayla Sky HeavyHead, Akaasaamiaaki (Many headdress woman) was born at Calgary AB May 3rd 2005 to Dion Heavy Head and Patricia Eagle Tail Feathers and passed December 23rd 2022 at Blood Reserve AB.
Mikayla was a kipitapooka ,raised the traditional Blackfoot way by her grandparents. The late Adrian " Buck" Manyfingers accepted Mikayla as his own and created an everlasting bond. Geraldine and Buck raised Shaquela, Bailey, Darius and Mikayla at "The Ranch ",it was there Mikayla was instilled with a strong work ethic, a love for horses and raising cattle. She was pure cowgirl at heart. In her years at the ranch Mikayla enjoyed the spoils of the country side. Swimming in the river on a hot summers day, sitting by the bon fire watching the stars telling good stories, rounding up cattle at the big rock pasture for the annual brand and sale, riding uncle Kev’s good horses, cruising the kaboda to her hearts content and just overall getting into all sorts of mischief a country girl could, but ultimately ending the day in a warm cozy bed with grandpa Buck and grandma Geraldine.
Mikayla started her educational journey at Levern Headstart, Glenwood Elementary, Hillspring Jr High School, Kainai Middle School, and Forest Lawn High School. In elementary school being the chatter bug she was, she was asked to sign a contract between her teachers and herself stating the she would not interrupt her teachers during class, she did so and held her tongue until she got home and told us every detail of her day. She was later termed the “slime girl” because of her fantastic slime recipe, which became her business and sold it to the kids at school only to be shut down because her customers were spending their lunch money and going home hungry with pocket fulls of her slime.
Mikayla left the ranch for Calgary and became a city slicker, there in a blink of an eye she became a beautiful young woman. She participated with many youth groups and established friendships through out the city.
In the spring of 2019 she became the loving aunt of Havana Arabella, whom she took as her baby girl caring to her every need when ever she could .
Mikayla travelled through out the United States with her family ,when she was seven years old before one of many trips she was encouraged to pack her own luggage. Upon first stop over it was discovered she had packed nothing but her princess play dresses, we all had a good laugh and made a quick trip to the mall to buy her vacation clothes.
Kayla girl your passing has left a tremendous void in our hearts, your beautiful smile and contagious laugh will forever be missed. Our faith in God gives us hope that one day we will all be together again, that you are at peace in the kingdom of heaven with your beloved grandpa Buck giving him a playful jab to the stomach and whispering "Im the queen of you".
