PATRICIA ANN HEGEDUS, beloved wife of Leslie Hegedus, high school sweetheart, mother, and grandmother, passed away in Cardston, Alberta on Friday, April 24, 2020 at the age of 77 years. Pat will be remembered with love by her children Vicki-Lynn, Karen, Michael, Janalee, and Tricia, and sixteen grandchildren. Patricia and Les were happily married for over 57 years.
Pat enjoyed many hobbies: quilting, crocheting, sewing, collecting rocks for her rock garden, camping, gardening, traveling, and genealogy. She loved to teach and was in the classroom for nearly 50 years, helping shape the young minds of several generations. She was passionate about serving in her church callings and in the community. Leslie had the great ideas, but Pat made them happen; she was organized, thoughtful, energetic and a natural leader.
Pat taught her family about resourcefulness and self-sufficiency, earning her the nickname Jane Thrift. Being a good example was important to Pat, and she expected the same from her children. Her faith and optimism sustained her through difficult times in life. She was always supportive of her children and grandchildren, lending a listening ear, giving advice when asked, and encouraging them to be their best selves. Pat continued babysitting her grandchildren until her final year.
A viewing will be held at Legacy Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 29th from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. (in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions a limited number will be permitted in the viewing at one time). A private family service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Cardston Cemetery.
