HAZEL FONTELLA (FON) HOGG (nee Burgess) passed away peacefully on 30 March, 2021 in Cardston, Alberta at the age of 90 years. She leaves behind to mourn her passing and to miss her dearly: her four children, Darla (Linn) Jensen, Blaine (Dienna) Hogg, Karen (George) Toone, Marlin (Chris) Hogg, 22 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Milton and Hazel (Nelson) Burgess and her brothers and sisters: Leo (Helen) Burgess, Molly (Leo) Hancock, Irene (George) Gross, Rilla (John) Workington, Ella (Pat) Pittman, Julia (Bill) Hurd, Al Burgess, Ralph (Connie) Burgess, her daughter-in-law Neta Hogg and her son-in-law George Toone.
She was born in Magrath, Alberta on the 26 April, 1930 and had many memories of her childhood and upbringing. She loved her family dearly, especially her cherished husband of 73 years, whom she missed much after his passing last October. Her children and grandchildren will forever remember her long hugs and words of love. She was known as the candy Grandma by her many great grandchildren. They have fond memories of card games and board games with Grandma.
Her passion in life, aside from her family was Family History. She loved to research her ancestry and to help others find their roots. Many will remember her for her willingness to help and the many, may classes she taught on genealogy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Low for his kindness and gentleness these last few months. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff and caregivers at the Chinook Lodge for making Mom feel so at home. We appreciate the staff at the Cardston Hospital for their kindness and care in Mom’s last days.
A Private Family graveside service will be held on Monday April 5 at the Cardston Cemetery.
