Derek James Johnson
March 24, 1977- January 16, 2026 Derek James Johnson passed away unexpectedly in Cardston on January 16, 2026 at the age of 48. He leaves behind his partner, Juli Walker and their children, Rebeckah, Malorie, and Logan, as well as many other family members and friends who loved him. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Derek was adopted by Fred and Carol Johnson shortly after his birth. He grew up in Cardston and lived and worked in the area until the time of his passing. Derek was a jack of all trades and had skills in welding, mechanics, and construction. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him great joy. He had a special love for all animals, often accompanied by a loyal dog by his side. He especially cherished the time he spent with his cousins at Johnson reunions and at summer campouts with Dustin, Cody, Casey, and Jeremy. He was a friend to all with a big heart, and loved to offer his help where he could. Friends may meet the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, South Hill Chapel, 950 Main Street, Cardston, on Saturday, January 24 from 10:00 - 10:45 am.
