JOYCE MYRTLE KASNER, daughter of Edward & Inez Kasner, passed away in Cardston, Alberta on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the age of 88 years. Although we are sad to say goodbye, we are happy to know that she is footloose and fancy free!

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, her brother Calvin Kasner, sister-in-law Marlene Kasner, brother-in-law Art Baerg, sister Sandra Pauls, sister Marilyn Pratt, brother-in-law Ken Pratt, nephews Barry Block and Chad Harris, and great-niece Charlette Smith. She is survived by her sisters Elaine Baerg, Edith (Kusty) Block, Eva (Charlie) Harris, Linda (Ed) Martens, and brother Ron (Cindy) Kasner, as well as many incredible nieces and nephews.

Joyce grew up on a farm near Coaldale, where she learned to hoe beats, pick beans, cook meals, sew and play the piano. She became the family pianist for Friday night sing-alongs.

Her goal was to become a school teacher and she often enlisted her siblings to become her students as she practiced the art of teaching. Her goal was realized and she became an amazing teacher. Besides reading, writing and arithmetic, her fortunate students were thrilled to learn about making bread, ice cream, and even chocolates, and had the opportunity to watch chickens hatch and grow in her classroom.

As a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joyce served in many church callings including a mission to Austria.

She continued to learn throughout her life, even refreshing her German in the last few years.

Joyce was always a great example of faith and endurance and showed us how to stay on the covenant path. She prayed for guidance to be led to the people who needed her help, and always followed the promptings she received.

Joyce’s passing has left a big hole in our hearts and we will miss her dearly.

Joyce’s Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Coaldale Alberta on Saturday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m.  Friends may meet the family at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment to follow in the Coaldale Cemetery.
