Niitaaksipsskiimaa (Chasing in again)
On Sunday Dec. 4, 2022, Randy Knife, a beloved father and grandfather suddenly passed away in his home in Farm Four surrounded by his family. Randy was 68 years old and lived a full life dedicated to his heavenly father. Randy was known for his kindness and humbleness and lived his life by the traditional Kimmipiipatsin teachings. At a young age Randy was raised by his auntie Mary Macdonald. Randy obtained his education from Fort Macleod and received his diploma from FP Walsh High School. Following his education he worked for his brother-in-law, Levi Black Water Sr. For many years as a ranch hand, breaking horses and often shared many stories of his ranch hand years. Randy shared his experiences of jumping trains to pick apples in Yakima with his buddies Glen, James and Campbell Eagle Child. Randy then met the love of his life, Iris Knife and then was employed at the Sawmill in Fort Macleod for a few years. Randy lived in a small one room house situated by his father's place in lower standoff and was later moved to Farm Four where he lived with his wife and two older children at this time, he helped many people and gave them a place to stay in spite of having a tiny home. It was at this time when his children were young that he became employed with Blood Tribe Public works for many years up until his retirement in 2014.
Randy started his congregation in his basement where he had his children, nieces and nephews join in prayer and songs. He then started his own Eagle Mountain Restoration Church in Levern including a youth pastor in Little Chicago New Life Fellow ship. Randy travelled throughout the states and Canada with youth fellow ship. Randy also hosted the Christian Youth camps behind his house in farm four by the river bottom, which was well attended. Randy was part of the Light house Cowboy Church Congregation up to his passing which he thoroughly enjoyed, as well he attended many other congregation/fellowships on the reserve including Grant Crying Head., Heavenly Kingdom Congregation. Later in life Randy battled health issues and in his recovery, he lived with his special sister, Joan Eagle Speaker who took care of him and he helped his sister in her time of grief until he decided it was time to move to his special place –his home in Farm Four when his daughter Vanessa moved home to care for him. Randy had strong faith that carried him through many trials and tribulations and taught his children the word and always told them not to worry to have faith that everything will work out. Randy travelled and attended many church services far and close and had many friends everywhere he went and was known for helping anyone in need. Randy always enjoyed a good visit with tea and bannock at his house in Farm Four. Farm four will be a lonely place. Randy's pride and joy were his grandchildren who he loved each for their own unique ways.
