DONALD EDWIN LAW, beloved husband of the late Garda Pilling Law, passed away in Magrath, AB on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Donald Edwin Law was born 20 August, 1928 to Edwin Tolhurst Law and Eliza Marie Judd. He was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada and was the 2nd born son. He married Garda Pilling 28 September, 1955, after meeting her in a young adult dance activity. She was his sweetheart and he loved her dearly. After she passed away 7 October, 2016, he missed her terribly.
He served an LDS mission in Australia. Then he served a few years as a school teacher. He changed professions early in his life to farming and purchased the farm he owns today in Magrath, Alberta, Canada.
He had a can-do, work-hard attitude that helped him with many endeavors in his life. He built a home for his family on the Magrath farm, first giving them a basement home, and later adding the upper story of the home for the family to enjoy. He was interested in technology and figuring out how things work.
Many souls were blessed by his generous nature and willingness to help. He had a great deal of patience and a well-developed sense of humor. He loved to read and study throughout his life. His passion was family history. He compiled an extensive family history of his relatives. At times, he and Garda would travel looking for relatives and calling all the Laws and Pillings in the phonebook of whatever town they were in. He loved the indexing program and had recently been recognized for doing over 26,000 records.
He is survived by his siblings Geneva Beatrice Law Spencer of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada; Norman Jay Law of Magrath, Alberta, Canada; Lawrence Brian Law of Cardston, Alberta, Canada; Lorna Joan Marie Law Burnham of Jerome, Idaho, USA; and Melba Kay Law Soderstrom of Aetna, Alberta, Canada. He is also survived by his children; Ruth Marie Law Miller of Sugar City, Idaho, USA; Kenneth Wayne Law of Magrath, Alberta, Canada; Marvin Dean Law of West Jordan, Utah, USA; and Carol Irene Law Timothy of Gilbert, Arizona, USA. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his dear wife, Garda Pilling, his brother, Weston Judd Law, and his great-granddaughter Amelia Nessie Law.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Welling, Alberta on Monday, April 16th at 2:00 p.m.
