EDWIN ‘BLAINE’ LEAVITT, of Cardston, AB, passed away in the Cardston Hospital on Monday, February 1st, 2016 surrounded by family at the age of 78.
Blaine was born on June 15, 1937 in Cardston, Alberta to Elden and Ardath Leavitt. His siblings include Ardell, Edra (Pilling), Donald, Bryan, Gerald and Nolan Leavitt. After graduating from high school, Blaine attended Calgary Tech in 1955, where he received his Automotive Engineering papers. In 1962 he moved his young family to Logan, Utah where he received his Bachelor of Education. Blaine taught in Taber from 1966 to 1969 and then Cardston from 1969 to 1994 when he retired due to a hearing loss. He was a beloved shop teacher that touched the hearts of many students. Blaine enjoyed team roping and made many life long friends through this hobby. Known for his sharp wit, he was usually quick with a good comeback or story. He was passionate about his family, who he loved dearly and spent much of his free time with.
Blaine is survived by his beloved wife of 12 years, Lorraine Pontarollo, daughters Linda (Shayne) Tolman, Cheryl (Robert) Wynder and Vicki (Mike) Cahoon along with their mother Frankie Leavitt. As well as ten grandchildren, Matt, Ryley (Tricia) and Shawni Tolman; Carly (Rob) Sefcik; Julie Allred; Traci (Matt) Aipperspach; Derek Bevans; Natalie (Riley) Walburger; and Ty and Bailey Cahoon and 9 ¾ great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Ardell, mother Ardath and father Elden Leavitt.
Friends may meet the family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LEAVITT CHAPEL, on Friday, February 5th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and Saturday February 6th from 2:00-2:45 prior to the Service.
The Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LEAVITT CHAPEL on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Leavitt Cemetery.
