Ronald Tyler Little Bear, NAA DO BAA MOO – “Holy Crossing” was called back suddenly by the Creator on April 1, 2020, at the age of 44. He was the loving father of Maple(Kendal), Ariel(Trey) and Ty(Quinn). He was a very proud grandfather to Nomi and was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first grandson Kylo. Tyler was the beloved son of Gary and Vivian Little Bear (Bruised Head) and the loving brother to his sisters Robin (Desmond), Leslee (JR) and Janna.
He was born on October 24, 1975, and was raised in Dead Man’s Corner on the Blood reserve and Cardston, AB. Tyler was a rough and tumble boy, always following and playing pranks on his older sister; Robin, and his older cousins/brothers; Lewis, Shane and Tibbs. Tyler was athletic and joined sports such as rodeo, hockey, football and baseball. He received his education from the Blood Reserve School system. Tyler loved reviewing his uncle Paddy’s outstanding record collection of old country hits. His first favorite song that he was known for singing was “Coca Cola Cowboy” by Mel Tillis. In the end, no country artist could top Tyler’s favorite cowboy and singer, George Strait.
At a young age, Tyler emulated his father and many uncles from both sides of his family by following in their footsteps in Rodeo; he competed in the three rough stock events; Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc, and Bareback. He would get so excited to witness his uncle Lewis ride broncs and say “one day I’m going to ride like that”. Nonetheless, Bull Riding became his favorite event until injuries prevented him from further participation. Family was most proud when he qualified for the INFR in Rapid City, South Dakota, 1994. He won numerous Rodeo titles from various Rodeo circuits and never boasted of his wins. He took time out to mentor young cowboys and cowgirls just starting out.
Tyler was soft spoken, humble of spirit and respectful of others, however he was quite a prankster. He made many lasting relationships with neighbors within the community. He will be remembered for his gentle ways and impish smile. Tyler had a special relationship with animals, especially his horses and dogs. His ability to connect and play with wild animals was remarkable.
Tyler’s pride and joy were his daughters. He watched them grow into the beautiful ladies they are today. Always smiling and bragging about their every achievement. Tyler also had a special relationship with his nephews and nieces and was proud of their accomplishments. You would often hear him say “gees, I’m really proud of you! Keep it up – you’re doing good!”
Tyler is survived by his Little Bear and Bruised Head families and his extended family within the Many Children and Fish Eater clans the Blackfoot Confederacy Tribes and Crow Agency-Lodge Grass, Montana.
A special thanks to his companion Lacey Scout, his buddies Cody Wells, Allen Wells, Kevin Many Grey Horses, RJ First Rider, Rick Fox, Cory Fox, Jason Rabbit, Lyle Fox, Kendall Red Crow, Cody Weasel Head, Waylon Weasel Head, Charlton Weasel Head, Terry Ivins, and all his friends within Indian Rodeo.
It is a comfort to know Tyler went home to be with his grandparents Edward and Ruth Little Bear and Genevieve Bruised Head who he loved so much and who gave him total unconditional love. He is also predeceased by his great-grandmother; Hilda Strangling Wolf, his grandfather, Pete Bruised Head and grandmother, Isabelle Lankford. His uncles; Willie, Gilbert (Philomena), Patty (Christine) and Leonard and Beverly Little Bear, Tim Lankford, Chester, Everett, Peter (Margaret), Joe (Lorraine), Regis (Carolla) and Norbert (Vera) Bruised Head. His cousins; Tawny Jo Healy, Okan Hungry Wolf, Jude Creighton, Emmy Lou Blood, Brian, Leslie and Kelly Ann Bruised Head. Adopted brothers; Lionel Tailfeathers, Joe Iron Shirt, Cody Black Rabbit and Steven Heavy Runner.
The family apologizes for anyone missed, and would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, support and stories shared during our time of loss.
