It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our grandson, son, brother, special friend and nephew, Walter Jean Loonskin “Siinaakoowan” - Cree Man on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Levern, Blood Reserve, Alberta at the age of 19 years.
He was born on February 3, 2005 in High Level to Shelly Thunder- deceased, Christopher Loonskin, adopted mother Delores Pederson - deceased April 13, 2024. Siblings Christopher “CJ”, Jeremiah, Maya, Sadie - deceased; grandparents, Yvonne Loonskin “Kookum” - deceased; Walter also leaves to mourn his family from East Prairie.
Walter was adopted by Aunty Delores and he and his brother Thunder went to numerous schools and had a very strong bond of brotherhood. They attended Hillview Elementary in East Prairie a Metis settlement from Kindergarten to grade six, Kainai Middle School and other schools he attended for a short time.
Walter made many friends in his short journey in life. His best friend brother Tyrese Vielle-Day Rider were very close and when Tyrese passed away he was very broken, from his death and from his mother Delores passing. Walter was very lonely but also thought about his brother Thunder’s well being.
Walter and Thunder were adopted into the Day Rider family, grandpa Gilbert, adpoted parents Michael and Deanna Prairie Chicken; aunties, Marlene, Janice and Shauna Day Rider; close friends, Bernadette Hairy Bull, Tommy and Levi Russell, Riley Shouting, Shane Plain Woman, Snow Steinhauser, TJ Scout, Kellita Day Rider and Delray Across The Mountain. There are many other friends that are like his brothers and sister that are to numerous to mention.
Walter enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing his Xbox, listening to music and watching movies in his spare time. Walter had a special friend, Sharmayne, that he met, they had a connection the moment they met. Sharmayne will forever have a special memory in her heart for Walter.
Walter will forever be missed by everyone he met, especially by his brother Thunder and and family.

A Memorial Wake Service will be held at the Levern Community Hall, Blood Reserve, Alberta on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 6:00 - 11:00 pm. The Memorial Service will be held at the Levern Community Hall on Tuesday, October 1 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in the Pioneer Cemetery.
